I love all the fifties, sixties and seventies stuff - they last - that's why they come up so often on advertisments - they'll never die - the likes of Ella Fitzgerald, Pat Boone, Elvis, Beatles, Roy Orbison, Matt Monroe, Eddie Fisher, Patsy Cline, Mel Torme, Beach Boys, Queen, Neil Sedaka, Glenn Campbell, Tom Jones, Shirley Bassey, Doris Day, Glenn Miller, Johnny Mathis, Perry Como, Dean Martin, and on and on and on :-D |

Amazing really what Formby got away with nearly 100 years ago. Errol's lovely comments have reminded me that Presley, Cliff Richard and that generation were the ones castigated by some religious groups for bringing devil worship into music :-) |

Oh and I grew up with music from the 70's and 80's, but our children, from the 90's always liked their own modern stuff.....( which we actually quite like) |

I love all the old standards...Gershwin,Irving Berlin, etc etc....so do my children as they were brought up with this music...and Dixieland jazz all around them as their father and myself are musicians. |

I love Formby and just find it amusing that people do not realise occasionally what the innuendo was - that's all. |

All the pop idols from whatever era had their faults Errol. Including all those named on here..... not just George Formby , so why did you single out just this named artist? |

Should Christians like George Formby with all the sexual connotations and innuendo? |

Harry. I have always been a big fan of George Formby. I think I can sing most of his ditties off by heart. And I was born 1946 so was a teenager at the time of all that wonderful music of MoTown, Beach Boys, Beatles, Bobby Vee etc. Yet I think George Formby has always been my favourite (though probably not admitted it before) |

I love it when old songs of our youth are revamped and youngsters look amazed that we know all the words before they do. |
