Of course yes I'd forgotten he was in that film, and the theme music is good too! :-D

I do wonder how they will explain him being in Torchwood and Dr who they do tend to gloss over stuff like this and normally just say a relative or something a bit like eve myles as she was firstly seen in Dr who as a character then joined Torchwood and as a Dr who/Torchwood episode they asked her did her family start in Cardiff .

I kinda guessed it would be someone older and wonder how he will play it :-)

Hi Bethan
When interviewed, the producers of the show said when Peter had been in the previous shows he was picked out as likely new Doctor, so they must have many ideas for the next series.

I'm wondering how he will be 'dressed/styled' etc.

Welshkitty

Welshkitty Report 5 Aug 2013 00:01

Mauonthecoast : Wow so they must of wanted him for while ,dress/style wise I wonder if they will stick away from business wear as he is known for the thick of it spin doctor so will they make sure he not type cast style wise , also his accent will he do a Tennant and go with an English accent instead of his normal Scottish one ?

Bethan :-)

Can’t say that we’ve ever heard of him, but then that’s nothing new!

Did anyone else find the interview with Matt Smith uncomfortable viewing? He rarely looked at the off-camera interviewer, and when he was giving the congratulations speech to his successor? Well! Talk about body language…..he really seemed not to want to be there!

Det. That's exactly what I said to OH.

I have never watched Dr Who, so why was I so interested to see who was going to be the next Dr? :-S

Mauatthecoast Report 5 Aug 2013 11:16

I thought Matt Smith looked uncomfortable too. Not sure why his role finished but was he written out and he didn't want to go? ...imho he was a great 'kooky' Dr. Who :-)

Find it hard to take in but Peter Capaldi is 55 the same age as William Hartnell when he became the 1st Dr Who. Always thought of Hartnell as an old man, he was only 67 when he died. Even in recent years seeing Hartnell in old films he looked old at 40.

Shows the difference between 1963 aged 55 and 2013 aged 55.

Think this show was put together rather hastily, hence the lack of comfort on the part of most of the 'talking heads'.

Would have been far better if they had just shown clips of all the old Doctors and then just announced Peter's taking over of the part.

BBC and other production companies who have long running shows, regularly use the same actors again and again, so his having been in both Dr. Who and Torchwood is no problem for me.

Remember Taggart, at least 3 of the leading actors had all been in the show before (the young lad at least twice) as criminals..... :-D :-D
