“We’re still working on a name,” Prince William said. “We’ll have that as soon as we can. It’s the first time we’ve seen him really, so we haven’t gotten a proper chance to catch up.”

I was surprised by the remark ' It's the first time we've seen him really.......' wonder what William meant?

I was concerned that there had been a few problems when the birth wasn't announced immediately but left for almost two hours. Baby's head looks a little elongated still and with Kate being so slender I wonder if the birth was difficult and little one needed some r and r straight away. I have seen the same with a friend's baby years back and it was all a bit scary for them.

I am looking forward to hearing his name. I took two days to decide on my son's from the list I had, it was difficult to decide if he looked like a Ben, Sam or whatever .

Hi Liz

I think you have answered your own question really ;-)

" I am looking forward to hearing his name. I took two days to decide on my son's from the list I had, it was difficult to decide if he looked like a Ben, Sam or whatever ".

I had the same thing when our Dau was born I had a name in mind but needed to see her to make sure it fitted her face and it did ...I called her Wendy and on the 23 rd of Aug she will be 40 ...still looks like a Wendy :-D

It is wonderfull to see William with his own child ,he will be a great Father, his wonderfull Mother Diana gave him all the love she could .

Pity she is not still here to see this wonderfull day :-(

And another thought - if there were Elizabethans, what are we, Elizabethans2, and will there be Charlies when it's Charles turn as King, Willies for William - hope they chose a suitable name for adapting lol

Susan, I do agree, Diana would have made a marvellous Grandmother, full of fun and love and cuddles. William was so relaxed with the baby and didn't he fit that baby seat in quickly, bet he practised for hours, bless him. So lovely to see the two of them drive off with their little one, shame there had to be security with them but necessary, of course.

I hope they have had a peaceful night, bless them.

I think Wills said that to avoid the questions.

Announcing the name will/should come officially from "The Palace".

:-)

I think they will be glad to get home, away from all the eyes.

William was replying to a question by the press, "why was the news of the birth not announced for 4 hours?" William replied, "it was the first time we had seen him really and we want to get to know him", in other words we wanted a bit of bonding time before it was announced. :-D

When Charles eventually becomes king he will be King George VII ;-) He's decided to use his middle name as he thinks being known as King Charles is a bad omen. Charles I has his head chopped off & Charles II had the plague & great fire of London to deal with.

Maybe because he'll have to get rid of the corgies & get spaniels

:-D

How come nobody has mentioned Arthur? That's what I am thinking of as his name.

Prince Frankie - in honour of Pope Francis.

AnninGlos Report 24 Jul 2013 09:32

I am sure I heard somewhere that the reason for the delay was they wanted time to bond privately with no intrusion before all the press etc.

With the name I believe it has to be put to the Queen for her to accept, I read that when Edward had his first child she vetoed one of the chosen names.

PollyinBrum

PollyinBrum Report 24 Jul 2013 09:43

We had already decided on my the name for my son, and the moment I saw him immediately changed it.

AnninG I think you are correct about the bonding, and to be honest I thought it was such a lovely idea. I think this couple are extremely well grounded and will do things at their own pace.

I still like the name Albert...... (Bertie) <3

Babies' heads are all sorts of shapes even after a normal birth, that's why the cranial plates are free to move.

You cannot possibly speculate and personally I found Liz's remark very disturbing.

William could have meant absolutely anything with his comment.

Sharron, I have 'Arthur' down on Lynda's sweepstake thread, I liked the thought that in time to come there would be another 'King Arthur' :-D

I wonder if the Duke and Duchess have chosen the names and if approved by Her Majesty they may make an announcement today ;-)

I hadn't realised that there had been a question asked that gave rise to that answer of William's and it explains things now, altho the tense is wrong..

I know babies heads are all different after birth, but usually the difference looks less marked after 24 hours.

He is still a lovely baby and I loved the fact that he was waving his fingers about. I wonder if they heard those strong lungs much last night. Hope they all got some sleep as I am sure they will be 'hands on' parents and not the sort to hand baby over to a Nanny..
