Brrrr - Nolls I hate the snow, nervous about going out for fear of slipping over :-(

The temperature in my house plummets and the fuel bills are sky high :-(

Not keen on high temperatures much either, but it is good to see the sunshine :-)

Nolls from Harrogate Report 9 Jul 2013 18:51

Joeva I don't like going out in snow like you fear of slipping and I can do that inside without going out in snow lol! But I have snow in one hand and sun in other and at the moment sun is weighing much heaver than snow. Fuel bills oh yes forgot! We pay monthly but when end of year bill came in we were over £200 in debt so they have upped our monthly payment (think I forgot to mention that to OH Opps) so now's the time to save on the gas Mmm! Lots of things for sun ....Still can't stand it ;-)

Nolls, three years ago I fell over indoors and sustained a fracture in my spine, that has added to my fear of falling too !

As for lecky bills I was £199.00 in credit on the 10th of January this year, my latest bill is just over £52 in debit and they have upped my monthly payment from £59 to £85 !

So give me a bit of warmth any time ! :-D

Nolls from Harrogate

Nolls from Harrogate Report 9 Jul 2013 19:10

Joeva that is dreadful I was paying same as you £59 OMG what will they be upping ours to? The fact your only £52 in debit I think I would phone them and ask for a reduction in fact I would pay off the £52 and have a clear slate and see how much they charge you then ...unless of course they know the heating is going to go sky high this winter :-0
Your fall must have been dreadful no wonder your fearful of going out how are you now have you managed to get better? poor you, you have my sympathy. I've had both knees replaced and have this horror of the metal coming through the skin if I fall lol! stupid I know (I think) ............So OK I'll go against my better judgement (just for you mind) and wish for the sun to continue :-D

GinN Report 9 Jul 2013 19:32

Winter is too cold, Summer can be too hot! I vote for Spring and Autumn all year round! :-D

SylviaInCanada

SylviaInCanada Report 9 Jul 2013 19:47

what sort of temperatures are you guys having???

It's 26C in the shade here, about 30C in the sun ................ and humid as we are on the coast.

Places away from the water are getting as high as 40C

Daft thing is ................. we get the reverse temperatures in winter ..........

....... 0C or below for us is common, -40C common in the centre of Canada.

SylviaInCanada

SylviaInCanada Report 9 Jul 2013 19:49

and we ourselves do not have air conditioning ................. like many people here.

But we do have efficient central heating for the winter :-)

Most people in the really hot areas can only survive with airconditioning.

We make do with fans ................. the one in the bedroom is on all night and much of the day to keep the room cool.

Thanks for that Sue but thought as much was at physio today and got punched/pulled and whatever we were both puggled by the end of it :-D (puggled for non Scots -- done in phew) :-D
Amokavid how lucky are you to be so private ... kiddies over the road from us had a big yellow flower you attach to hose and it waves about ...great fun would have given anything to join in ...you could easily have one without anyone knowing let me know if you do and I'll be down.
Geordie I'm def. with you on this, if only we got spring/autumn now -a -days but it always seems to rain.
Sylvia are these the temps you get All summer we are lucky? to get a couple of weeks of this and there is an outcry if it is more but I could not survive all summer nor the winters of Canada my cousin is in Winnipeg and it goes down to -38 *|^*^^* ^*^^*^^?? no way thank you
Very true Kitty we will have to have the heating on... :-D

SylviaInCanada

SylviaInCanada Report 10 Jul 2013 05:36

Nolls

the temps in places like Winnipeg are exactly why I will not live more than 25 km from the Pacific Coast :-D

It's often called the Banana Belt of Canada here ...........

.......... rarely gets below -10C in the winter here, and that is overnight

.......... don't usually get much snow, and what falls soon melts

........... do get a heck of a lot of rain from October to March

.......... only very rarely gets over 30C in summer, maybe 8 days over the wh9le period Usually in the low 20s.

But it is humid

The region isn't called a Temperate Rain Forest for nothing!

The other thing is ............

....... we get very few mosquitoes and black flies here unlike Winnipeg, and most other places

Coldest I've been is at -42C, and that was way up north around Christmas time.

You can however dress for cold. It's very hard to undress for heat. It tends to frighten the natives :-D :-D

I've found that long flowing skirts are much cooler than shorts, leggings, or anything else. They create a breeze of their own as you move.

Strange ............... I was at physio today, as well, and he found a new way to hurt me :-D :-D
