Canada has strict privacy laws for BMD certificates- possibly 100 years for births. Not sure of the cut off dates for the others. When Googling to try and find out, it would appear that you can order certificates, but need the details which would be on them to order them - a Catch 22 situation!

You might be able to find church records on other sites such as

familysearch
via Cyndis list which is a portal

It is likely that Jane Lax was their daughter, but no one can be absloutley sure of that. She may have got married and if listed on the ER post 1949 has a different surname. If the age of majority was 21, she must have been born 1928 or before and could still be alive.
