Sharron

Sharron Report 25 Jun 2013 10:13

I didn't report it, and there was no reason to anyway, but I am quite pleased that I don't see the word "douchebag" every time I come to this site.

There is nothing wrong with the word but it kind of takes me back to my youth when the Brigade of Old Biddies, the menopausal and poste-menopausal women who make it their business to remove the stars from the eyes of any young girl who might be showing them, were targeting me.

It is the kind of word they that has to be uttered in the same tone as is used for such words as "back-passage", "haemorrhoids" and "all taken away" when they are explaining the travails to be endured before you are also entitled to wear curlers and false teeth.

Can't you just picture Mother Nature on the Tampax advertisement mouthing the word?

I reported that thread Sharron, I found it offensive to see it on this site to be used the way it was, just for effect.

:-D :-D I was also pleased to see that thread deleted, Sharron.

Have not yet got to stage of curlers and false teeth, and hope I never get to later stages.

Tampax appear to be so lovely from the ads. As cool as a mountain stream, perchance ;-)

I didn't read the thread and am not really talking about it's content because, of course, I am in no position to do so.

I was only really talking about the word "douchbag" and my personal perception of it.

JustJohn Report 25 Jun 2013 11:35

Just in your house, Joy. Or whole neighbourhood. :-S

I have animals and am often tempted to use it :-( :-( :-(

Sharron

Sharron Report 25 Jun 2013 11:41

I had never heard it used but can only assume it is a modern take on a thing my granny had an enamel can thing and a length of hose for in the fifties.

It caused me endless fascinated conjecture I can tell you.

It was, naturally, made doubly interesting by the mention of it in the hushed tones reserved for "having it all taken away".
