I have just been searching the house for my specs, I went up stairs to get another pair. Imagine my surprise when I looked in the mirror to discover I had a pair on top of my head.

Am I getting old?

LOL! Paula Dear join the Club I keep saying I'm going to get one of those chains to hang round my neck but I think they make you look old. I have 6 pairs going back about 6yrs (daren't throw any out) and still have to hunt for them!

never hang specs on a chain - people shout at you a lot - they think you are wearing a deaf aid!! :-D

Just walked into the sun room where I was last wearing them and they were there right in front of me........... Maybe I need to go to Spec Savers.

Wearing specs on a chain you will become Hinge and Brackett ;-)

At least they weren't sat on the end of your nose!

What I have found recently (shh! don't tell) is picking up a pair and putting them on only to find I already have some on...they usually fit on ok too just make your eyes go a bit squeegee if you know what I mean especially if one pair is reading and t'other is long , not sure if I could find my way to Spec Savers then :-S :-S

Scuse me Ann.... Hearing aid please!! And when you are wearing one (or 2 as in my case) which allows you to hear more or less normally, people still shout at you as if you are simple. :-D

Oh, ever washed your face with your glasses on? Probably applies more to people who wear them all the time.

OMG :-D :-D :-D - Thought I was the only silly plonker. I've got 5 pairs and I do use the roped not chains because I need to keep one on when in the shops.

Yes I agree the chain/rope thingi is supposed to make you look old but on the tube you see many all ages wearing them because they are all reading something.

I get nervous without my glasses so inevitably I find I've got two hung round my neck. Or one on my eyes and one hung round my neck.

Why a rope not a chain - the chains catch in my long blonde hairs bits even when it's tied up.

I've recently started wearing contact lenses again, and after putting them in in the morning, I often put on my specs, then wonder why I can't see!

My o.h. is a nightmare for losing his specs, he has two different prescriptions and four pairs in all as two are for work so safety ones.

He will leave them on the bed when he finishes watching tv at night so I end up having to pat the duvet to find them before I get in later on, I have sometimes felt them nearly underfoot when he has moved and they have fallen off the bed and on to the floor, always my side for some reason.

A few weeks ago he said he was cycling to work, and wondered why he couldn't see very well, realised he had the wrong specs on.

I wear one pair of varifocals all the time, but when I am reading small print I often find it easier to take the specs off, I sometimes put them on top of my head while I read. Now and then I do that and then try to take them off again if you get me as I am still not able to read that particular text well. If I put mine down I have to feel around for them unless they are clearly visible in front of me.

I wear varifocals most of the time, but I prefer my old "reading" glasses when I'm reading in bed! With the varifocals I have to tilt my head.

My reader frames are ancient, I think I've had at least three lenses in them. You'd laugh if you saw them...... great big "granny" specs. I don't care ~ I only wear them at home, and they're great for reading in bed; the new small frames irritate me.

As for losing specs........... you've all got craft disease!!!!! :-D :-D :-D

When looking for my glasses a pat on top of my head is part of the search routine :-D

Its known as a "Senior Moment" Paula. I get them all the time.

Best one I did was go to the shops when the milk had run out. Came back with strawberries, bananas, a pork pie, a brown loaf, a white loaf, a pack of geranium plants and a box of tissues.

Put them away and went to make a cup of tea.
You guessed it...........................................NO MILK !

That's not my best senior moment Paula, two years ago I won a bunch of flowers for my wife from the "Yours" magazine. They have a "senior moments" section and I won that week.

Wife's wrists were playing her up, (arthritis), so I did the ironing using a new iron we had bought the day before. I did not think much of the results and it was not until I had done 8 items, including 3 shirts, that she noticed that the cardboard protective layer was still on the face of the iron !

She enjoyed the flowers.

I should get varifocals as I need specs for distance, for reading and for work

For work, I have my reading glasses prescription set at a distance to allow me read the computer screens comfortably
I used to put them on my head but the legs kept stretching so wide that they would fall off my face.
I have a confession to make.... ( hangs head in shame).

I bought a cord... yes one of those things to hand round my neck with the specs attached!
My girls have warned me that the dangly cord must never be seen in public or they will sell me on ebay.

As for reading in bed?
I work in a library.... I get large print books !

Nothing wrong with being able to locate your glasses!


Seriously, though, some of the print and font sizes used in books
are so tiny you need a magnifying glass.
