My OH is a right cheerful chatterbox, be it at home or in the car and he ends so much of what he says with, 'isn't it, don't you think, wasn't it' that you have to reply, so I end up like a nodding dog sometimes!!

It's lovely that he still likes to chat with me and he's very witty so creases me up with laughing at times. Sometimes though you do need space to have a few thoughts of your own and to concentrate on what you are doing without interruption. Better him chatty than silent though.

Sigh!......today I tried to inject some enthusiasm into the day....told Oh that there was an eighty million pound rollover jackpot this Friday......the mere mention of millions put a sparkle in my eyes and voice.......what is the first thing you would do?......I asked him......willing him to join in the fun of speculation.......don't know really....says he......never really thought about it........well think about it now, just for fun....says I.......not much point as we will never win it....says he........Huge sigh!....methinks I will go orft to ask the dogs what they will do if I win the lottery......I know who I *wont* be sharing it with :-D :-D

The pensioner is given to ranting on various subject. I am merely required to nod from time to time.

We do have proper conversations as well, though.

We tend to have seperate interests, and if one of us is on the computer, the other one isn't. Yes, we do try to take an interest in the other's, but we often end up with glazed eyes!

Coffee out is usually accompanied by the free papers - then one comments on an article they are reading and a discussion ensues. We can also break into what we call our 'Laurel and Hardy' act when interacting with cashiers...they don't quite know what to make of it :-D

OH is my rock and my friend - we support each other. Even though we don't talk to each other all the time, it is a comfortable silence.

I am quite a shy person (honestly) but the three people I could always talk with non-stop were my gran, my mum and my OH. And for 34 years now, have never kept any secrets from OH and vice versa.

But my son!! I don't spend a lot of time chatting to him and I think he knows I am there if he wants me. But he is 40 years younger than me, works odd shifts and often comes in after midnight and is interested in teckie things and heavy metal music. Oh, and cars. He chats to his elder sister on phone and I can hardly understand a word I accidentally overhear :-) :-)

We try to chat. Sometimes do very well and our conversation may give him an idea that he wants to relate, he will start and then a smile comes over his face and he struggles and then says no it's gone, I will laugh with him and say no matter it often happens to me.

We do welll most of the time and I try to encourage him to talk between his napping !

Have even bought an I pad so I can be downstairs with him in the evenings rather than in my office(small bedroom) upstairs. Do have to go up from time to time cos the I pad is a bit restrictive.
