In the words of Sir Walter Scott .................

Oh what a tangled web we weave when first we practice to deceive.............

Good.
What a pair of self-serving bitter beings they are. I feel so sorry for their son.

...and Mitchell should have been charged for the bike incident

Von Report 11 Mar 2013 17:30

Totally agree with you Joeva.

Now don't get me wrong I fully understand the seriousness of their crime but I can't help feeling that a big fat fine would have been better.

At least that way they wouldn't cost us the tax payers for their spell at Her majesty's pleasure.

and just think - had he not been "playing away" we would have heard nothing about it and they would have got away with it - truth will out eventually - a woman scorned and all that

That speed camera at the bottom of the M11 is pointless from the road safety aspect but has generated hundreds of thousands in revenue.
That should pay for their their "holiday" courtesy of Her Majesty.
Maybe when he gets out he will campaign against speed cameras ?

Indeed how the mighty have fallen!!

Pity he didn't fess up 2 years ago and save the taxpayers the costs of bringing him & her to court.

I liked the judges summing up that the only tragedy was self inflicted

SheilaSomerset Report 11 Mar 2013 18:02

Agree with Lolly. Perhaps the real punishment for them is the alienation of their children. Stupid and selfish actions by both.

Lolly, your dog is lovely :-)

hope they are not going to bring them all out - it could last till Christmas :-D :-D :-D

OneFootInTheGrave

OneFootInTheGrave Report 11 Mar 2013 18:53

Chris Huhne and his ex-wife Vicky Pryce are just two of a long list of Members of Parliament, Members of The House of Lords, and others who have held senior Public Office (Vicky Pryce was the Joint Head of the Government Economic Service for a number of years), who have ended up in prison in recent years. In my 70 years I have never known anything like it :-(

When you look at the list of those that have been sent to jail, and take into account all the others caught doing creative accounting with their expenses and add to that the recent scandals such as, Andrew Mitchell & Plebgate; the Lord Rennard allegations, it beggars belief that many are still there :-(

All the above plus several still unanswered questions about some of our various leaders personal judgement, is it any wonder that, many people and I am one those, have not a shred of confidence in the integrity, trustworthiness, and honesty of many of our current politicians.

If I may, I will now go into the realm's of fantasy ;-)

Oh that the Sovereign's advisers could recommend that she dissolve Parliament and bar the current lot, on all sides, from ever standing for Parliament again, a total clear out is what is needed ;-)

Wasn't it established that *plebgate* wasn't all it appeared?

...as for Huhne and Vicky Pryce......I'm just glad they're being made to pay some of the costs......it was a ridiculous amount of money used up by Huhne lying and trying to get the case kicked out.

Purple **^*Sparkly*^** Diamond

Purple **^*Sparkly*^** Diamond Report 11 Mar 2013 19:11

They have both disgraced themselves, their families and especially their children, five in total from Vicky Pryce's marriages.

" In 1972 she married an LSE academic with the surname of Pryce, whom she divorced in 1981, having had two daughters with him.

In 1984, Pryce married Chris Huhne, who later became an MEP and then the Liberal Democrat MP for Eastleigh and Secretary of State for Energy and Climate Change. They had three children together. They divorced in January 2011.

She is currently in a relationship with the ex-minister and former Labour MP Denis MacShane, who resigned as an MP in 2012 due to submitting false expenses invoices stemming from the United Kingdom Parliamentary expenses scandal."

Great choice of third partner, lie down with dogs and you get fleas comes to mind.

They will not get an easy ride in prison - wonder how they will conduct themselves while serving their sentences and afterwards. Not good examples as grandparents or future grandparents, that's for sure.

Shame on them for not pleading guilty and coming clean from the start of the investigation - would have saved a lot of time and money and might have gained them a little more respect, rather than have a lot of dirty linen aired in public and undermining their children's lives as well. Mud sticks, unfortunately.

Of course they will only do 2 thirds, plus time off for model insiders,,,,16 weeks could see them out and about.......not much to forego as far as family are concerned as they get their VO......they will be in a low grade prison and probally an open air one,,,,,,,,

OneFootInTheGrave

OneFootInTheGrave Report 11 Mar 2013 19:16

Muffyxx, I don't think we will ever know the truth about "Plebgate" and that Andrew Mitchell will soon be popped off out of the way to join the "Gravy Train" in Brussels as a European Commissioner ;-)

As to Chris Huhne and Vicky Pryce, the prosecutor told the court that the CPS spent £79,015 prosecuting Huhne and £37,544 prosecuting Pryce. He added that the police spent a further £31,000 on extra investigations launched at Huhne's behest. The Crown Prosecution Service is seeking to recover costs from both Huhne and Pryce, the issue has been adjourned to a hearing at a later date.

They should pay the lot, they can well afford it :-)

McB

McB Report 11 Mar 2013 19:37

He can afford it from all the false expenses claimed & if he had just got a fine i bet us tax payers would end up paying it, more expense claims.

~Lynda~ Report 11 Mar 2013 19:45

I don't feel sorry for either of them, but they will probably spend 4-6 weeks in a "real" prison, her probably in Holloway, him maybe Wandsworth, before spending the rest of there time in open prison. The thought of going in either fills me with absolute fear, which I assume it will them, hopefully it will make them think about what they did, and possible come out realising what idiots they have been.

AnnCardiff Report 11 Mar 2013 21:28

imagine them being your parents :-( my lovely parents were law abiding god-fearing people who had little money but compared to those two they were pure gold - no mistake
