Just got word from him that he is now a fully qualified Chartered Accountant. He is only 23 yrs of age and has been working his socks off since becoming a trainee at 18.

It has been a standing joke over the years that when he qualified he would be giving us pocket money!! He remembered and said 'After Christmas'!!!!

Days like this are so good.

Congratulations to your grandson

My first husband qualified as an Accountant and it was quite amazing how much work needed to be undertaken.....lots of good jobs once the person has worked for a few years. We travelled the world due to husbands job.

I wish your grandson a great working experience and every success for the future.

Congratulations Chris, love to hear when youngsters do well. I have high hopes for my grandson who is only 14 but says he wants to be a lawyer or solicitor, he certainly has the gift of the gab so should do well.

I think everyone in family is on cloud nine - know we are. His sister mailed me and said 'I am a very proud big sister'. I thought that was nice.

Bridget - you are so right, he was studying for exams twice a year as well as working.
Now the foundation is laid and hopefully the future will be bright as I wish all the youngsters to have.

Thanks Paula, I just hope at his age he does not get to distracted by the girls ;-)

Congratulations to your grandson Chris, I m sure he has a great future ahead of him.
My baby brother did the same thing, studied and passed all the exams necessary to become an accountant and ended up a partner in a company. At one point, he told me he was earning more than in his wildest dreams. He has been able to travel and do what ever he wanted, has a lovely home and wife who has only had to work part time through choice, and for a long time has had Irish Wolfhounds, usually two at a time - they were their 'children' He has retired from the company now and works part time for himself, partly from home - he was always a workaholic so I knew he wouldn't retire full time altho he has hobbies and could fill his time. At his 60th birthday party last May he had lots of good pals there some of whom he has known since school and others he has made along the way, most of them well qualified men and women from all walks of life. I think he has enjoyed his working life and hope things work out as well for your grandson. No wonder you feel proud of him.

Carol - strange you should say that - he has a lovely and especially lovely in nature girlfriend since Sixth Form who has backed him all the way. When he has hit study mode, she has been content to wait in the background until he has sat his exam.

They met about 3 months before A levels and Grandma could be heard weeping and wailing 'why has he fallen in love now before exams - why not after'!!!!!!
