I've just been buying flowers online to be delivered on a friend's birthday.

What flowers would you like to receive if you were being sent some ( personally I''d settle for any lol) I do love freesias though for the wonderful scent :-D

Freesias for me also. Was asked as mother of the bride why was I not ordering an orchid to wear. Told them I would have freesias and would smell their scent all day - which I did!!

Have left instructions no flowers on my last big day except for one large spray of freesias - pity I won't be able to smell them!!!

I love lilies, although my Mum always said they are funeral flowers :-D

Although I like most flowers, I usually have a vase full, I just wish they had a smell to them. My Nan was a florist, and you could smell the flowers as you walked past her shop, not many florist shops you can say that about now :-(
Sometimes if I do smell a rose that does have a scent, it reminds me of my Nan's shop :-D

What a lovely memory for you Lynda.

My mum loved flowers, and had wanted to be a florist. She didn't want any at her funeral as 'Flowers are for the living' (her words).

Rather than a bare coffin, we ended up with a display of foliage, more for Dad's sake than anyone elses!

Freesias are my favourite to. I had them for my mum and mil. to wear when we got married. I love the smell of them. I do like most flowers, Lillies are lovely to look at but I cant have them in the house because the pollen affects me.

And it stains! :-0

Sylvia

Sylvia Report 2 Dec 2012 23:17

Lol It certainly does stain, DIL got some on her top this weekend. I think cellotape brings off the pollen on clothes.

+++DetEcTive+++ Report 2 Dec 2012 23:18

Thank for the tip - we had to downgrade a sweatshirt from 'smartish' to 'getting grubby in' a few years ago!

Mind you, they do have a wonderful scent.

Sylvia

Sylvia Report 2 Dec 2012 23:23

Dont try to brush off the pollen first Detective or it will not lift off with the cellotape. If you get it on your clothes whats the chance you cant get your hands on a roll of cellotape lol.

They are wonderful memories Det, although my Mum didn't like flowers very much, as she said that when she was little, in the 20's, my Nan would buy flowers instead of food, which was so she could buy food, but Mum said when you're little and hungry, she didn't see it that way.

aivlyS, can you believe that as i read your post about roses, I can actually smell them, how weird is that :-D

Re lilies, once they open I always cut the middle bit out, so none of the staining :-D

You are all making me jealous! I used to love the scent of freesias and other flowers, but I lost my sense of smell a couple of years ago, so have to rely on memory. Saves a fortune on perfume, though! :-(
