Brother-in-law sent us a parcel.

It was returned to him with a note from Post office "This address does not exist"

He took the parcel back to the post office, insisted it was a REAL address. Post staff apologised, sent it express post.

It never arrived!

Bro-in-law went back to post office........... they couldn't help.

:-P

My postman is fantasic has well if I'm out and I have a recorded letter he signs it and puts it through the door, like wise if its a parcel he leaves it at the corner shop over the road.

My next door neighbour asked for her parcels to be put into one on her wheelie bins when they were away. The new neighbours at the other side thought they were doing a good deed and put the bin at the end of the path on bin day and their parcels went.

Mainly because we never know when the post will be delivered and we rarely stay in, most dsys

Why go to the Delivery Office to collect?

There will be a phone number on the P739 (that is what the card is called) and you can arrange for your packet or parcel to be re-delivered. That is what I do.

We have a brilliant postman. Moved about 18 months ago but only in the next avenue. He delivers here even though they are to the old address. Any packages are put round the back in a spare bin we have with a note through the door. Everyone takes in packages for neighbours.

MY POSTMAN IS FANTASIC
IF A LETTER HAS TO BE SIGNED FOR
HE BRINGS IT TO MY BACK DOOR BECAUSE HE KNOWS I CANT UNLOCK FRONT DOOR EASY.
IF ITS A PARCEL AND WE ARE OUT HE COMES BACK
AGAIN AT THE END OF HIS ROUND

I wouldn't leave a note on my front door, its an invitation to burglars as you are advertising your house is empty. :-0

The van delivers two postmen who then go off with their bag (in one case which is where the parcel was produced from) and with a little trolley in another.

I was expecting 2 parcels once. I was at work so had the 'note' left. I went to pick them up, but they only gave me one. when I queried this, they had a rummage, then came back and asked me what the parcel looked like!!!?????

I had to bite my tongue - not the time for smartarse comments, as I wanted the parcel - but managed to reply - probably smaller than a shoebox!

It appears from some replies that if the postman/woman has a van then the said parcel is generally in the van?

My postman/woman does not use a van he/she only has a bag and there own 2 legs to carrie all the post which may explain why they don't want to Carrie parcels that they may or may not be able to deliver

A few months ago I spotted a courier/parcel delivery van pull up outside a house.

Saw him knocking at the door and getting no reply.

Could not believe what he did next. Yes threw the parcel through an open front room window.

our post man is really good
he leaves most peoples packages with us if they are out
and ours with a neighbour if we are not in :-D

AnninGlos Report 6 Nov 2012 14:41

I am pretty certain they will have had the parcels with them because twice recently we have got home to find the dreaded red card and walked down the road to find the postman (knowing he is still in the area because the van is still in the road), and the parcels have been in his bag. Once I didn't even have the red card as I saw him before I reached home and was expecting a parcel so asked him if he had left a card. He produced the parcel and said tear up the card when you get home. To be fair, although we have many different postmen he is more regular than most. Of for the first 10-15 years we lived here when we had the same postman all the time. Good old Jim, he retired then it went to pot!!

Wisechild. This has happened to me several times. I have seen the postman walking away from my door leaving a note through the letterbox saying I was not at home when actually I have been in the house. One time I was in the garden and the delivery man came down the path but obviously did not see me. I saw him walking back up the path and get into his van, so I took to my heels and chased after him banging on the back of the van. He looked out of the window and I said "Did you have a parcel for me"? He replied "Yes the porch door was open so I left it in there" Ooohh I did feel a silly billy.
Don't you just hate it when someone shakes their head slowly whilst giving a condescending smile. :-P

We have a key to our neighbour's house so OH goes
next door to take parcel from postman and put on her table.

Postman says he can't have it as he'd already knocked and no
one was in.

WAIT FOR IT.....

So OH says if I enter her house and you try again can i take
parcel when I answer the door.
Yes that would be OK but he had to drive forward and walk back with
said parcel!!

When OH told me I almost PMSL.

As Island said i no that they often don't bother to bring the parcel with them,

I saw the postman walking down my path as i was going out so met him half way he gave me the card and told me the parcel was to big for my letter box so no point in him bringing it as most people would be out at work, despite the card saying they had tried to deliver it,

Then they wonder why they have been loosing business over the last 10/15 years
