Tenerife Sun Report 28 Oct 2012 17:34

It's raining, real rain not little spots here and there. The garden is getting a good soaking and the weeds will be growing in no time :-(

+++DetEcTive+++ Report 28 Oct 2012 17:40

Some friends are flying out tomorrow on holiday - they won't be too pleased if it lasts.
Mind you, despite the weed problem, it must make you feel glad to see everything green and fresh again!

How long are your friends here for? Rain over all the islands today and Tuesday and high winds forecast for Wednesday then okay as far as I can see on the site I use. It can change very quickly here so maybe okay in a day or two.

That will wash the dust away then. Glad we are not there though!!

Daughter goes to Lanzarote on Thursday so hope it won't rain there.

One week, Monday to Monday. After the soggy UK summer they are looking forward to their "pre winter warm up" :-D

Sounds as it they will get some good days then!

Hi Ann...wet but very warm, ive got the doors open as usual. I went for a coffee this morning at the Europ and it was lovely and sunny. At the moment the rain is all over the Canaries so Lanzarote is getting it too. The birds are out in the garden desperately pecking away at the wet ground in the hope of a tasty snack! They seem to have gone off the advocados that I put out for them. Hope you are both well. Xx

Not been to the north Barb? Don't know what you are missing.

Oh dear I won't tell daughter then Wendy, she is looking forward to some sun. Still the rain only has to veer off course a bit and it will miss Lanzarote :-D

Ah, coffee at Europa, wish we could join you.

Move the slider on the left down through the times/days to see how the weather changes

You can change it from lluvia (rain) nubes (cloud) temperatura (temperature)

For the wind speed etc click on Costas at top of the screen and then on Canarias bottom left. There is a colour gage which shows the intensity of the wind.

wisechild Report 29 Oct 2012 07:14

Here in Menorca we´ve had 100 kmph winds since Saturday & torrential rain for 2 days before that. Temperature dropped 10c overnight & today we are threatened with 10c max although the wind has dropped somewhat.
The weather ruined the island´s annual half marathon yesterday although it went ahead.
We´re resisting putting the heating on for as long as possible because it´s so expensive, so are watching TV in the evenings huddled in blankets.
After 3 months of 35c+ it feels a bit parky.

Wednesday here looks diabolical and I have to drive to La Laguna near Santa Cruise for a hospital appointment. The motorway will be a horrible place to be.

Hope your weather improves soon Wisechild I know all about watching TV wrapped in blankets or quilts :-D

Fingers crossed the forecast is wrong Wendy. But if not take care.

Tenerife Sun Report 30 Oct 2012 15:25

Glad I'm not landing at either of our two airports today, if they are still open. We have very high very warm winds and we are being told not to go if it is not necessary. It is gearing up for tomorrow when the wind will be joined by the torrential rain. If the wind direction changes we may escape it.

Everything from out side my house in now inside, patio furniture etc, the garage is under the house so no chance of me storing it there. For those on holiday it only usually lasts a day or two but not much fun if you only have a week booked, :-0

AnninGlos Report 30 Oct 2012 15:43

Ooh nasty! I noticed the apartment furniture (well some of it) was already inside. Don't want it taking off over the wall!

Tenerife Sun

Tenerife Sun Report 30 Oct 2012 19:56

Hi ann ...Jill, at number 17, watched a plastic table fly off of an apartment balcony opposite her house. Luckily it landed in the grounds and not in the road. I have cancelled my appointment for tomorrow and I'm staying indoors. Xx

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 30 Oct 2012 21:50

I don't blame you Wendy, stay safe. That could have been nasty. Is that strength of wind unusual for there?

Tenerife Sun

Tenerife Sun Report 30 Oct 2012 22:38

Just been outside its 10.30 pm and its very windy and warm still 27 degrees it is also very light out and the sky looks amazing. Ann we normally get a Sorroco wind once a week but that brings all the sand from the Sahara. Some one said that the Spanish news said it was a backlash of Sandy but I don't know, the US is a long way away, but we are both in the Atlantic. The worse thing is the damage and the rock falls it sometimes causes. I dread losing roof tiles or the trees. According to the weather site it should all be over and back to normal by Thursday so there is no point in starting to clear up the garden before them. Yesterday I was out in the sun counting my roses, 28 buds and flowers now all bashed to bits in the wind. Still all this is usually only once a year and the rest of the year is beautiful.
