Hi, this is a short (ish) post to let the GR community know that GR member Lindsey* died suddenly in May. I "met" her in 2008 when just beginning my tree and she helped me with look ups and advised me on the best sites to visit.

At the beginning she held my hand thru the whole painful newbie phase and eventually we swapped personal email addresses and became great "online friends" We exchanged acidic words about neighbours and their cats digging up plants only 2 days before she died. I loved her non nonsense humour and approach to life and we bantered about everything tree and non tree related.

My tree would not be what it is today without her to bounce leads and dodgy ideas off and my life would be poorer for not having known her.

I think she would appreciate the idea that having not heard from her after a few weeks (which was odd as she always replied to my emails) I found she had pased away by putting my detective hat on and finding that her family had placed an obituary for her in their local newspaper......

Many thanks Lindsey....for everything...I miss you...friend, mentor and inspiration XXX

Thank you Jan for posting this. Lindsy also helped me a lot too and only yesterday I passed on her name to someone else on the boards who needed a Sussex lookup. I will now send them the link to this thread by pm

Hiya, yes this was Lindsey the artist who did beautiful paintings and lived in Bushey/Watford, not that long ago we laughed at one of her "commissions" a sign for her local Chinese Take Away

I keep going to email her funny stories about my day...or to moan about a stubborn relation I can't find and stop short.....we giggled over odd names, and loved finding black sheep and skeletons....now I smile to myself and guess at her responses :o)
