According to my mother her father was a drunken bully, her parents had 17
children, her mother died young and my mum left home when she was 14,
he lived to age 77. I never knew my grand parents on my mothers' side.

Oh, on the subject of skeletons in the cupboard (well not really as it is open knowledge in the family).

My grandfather used to love his pint and would send my Mum back with the empties and to get more drink. And that was even when they had barely enough to feed the family. (When I was 6 he used to live with us and used to say he was going to get his medicine for his bad legs!) He was the reason my Mum was a life long T Totaller. I never saw him drunk though, think he only had a couple.

Erm, I think I take after him not my Mum :-D :-D

OK if others admit to it.............

My grand-father was such a kind hearted soul that when he was paid on Saturday night, he used to splash the cash around.

Apparently he also used to 'splash' most of it up the wall as well.

Poor old Gran with 10 mouths to feed!

Joy how wonderful, and how lovely of that gentleman to share with you.

BC My Grt Grandfather must have been a friend of your Gt Gt. He too was arrested for being drunk and disorderly. Couldn't believe that when I read it, he was the head of the most pious Baptist church attending part of my family tree.
