Barb only been to Iron Acton once, searching the grave yard (as you do), didn't find anything much. Although we have lived in Glos for 20 years this time and 8 in the 70s, I actually come from hampshire and OH from Devon.

Hi Ann

Remember Iron Acton well. Back in the late 50.s used to go to a ramshackle old farm to ride old nags around the village. Keedwells if I remember rightly. 4 bob an hour and I loved it.

38000 posts so I have a fair way to go LOL

Hello Barb, always good to welcome someone else from Glos, albeit South. Please don't feel intimidated by the fact that people seem to know each other well, it is mainly only from posting on here that we get to 'know' people. OK some of us have been to a few meets but a lot of people haven't. Just think, your views are as relevant and welcome as anyone elses. If it 'kick off', ignore and look at another thread. :-) :-)

Hi Everyone

I am a relatively newbie and I am a real person I think? and I too have noticed names I haven.t seen before.

I look in most days and have found that a lot of you know each other really well which is great. But it makes it difficult to " join in "

I didn't find these boards for a while and sometimes it can be hard to find one,s way around when you haven,t touched a key board let alone be on line.

Sometimes I have been ready to add something when its all kicked off and that to me is off putting.

I find it great that you have such good rapport with each other and continue to make me smile with your witty remarks.

Ttfn from a real newbie

:-D :-D :-D :-D :-D

I've noticed every now and again someone asking for help to
find relatives on chat board and thinking they must be a newbie,
till I read the thread to see they have been a member for years
and should know that the best place for help is on find ancestors
board. Sometimes they are directed to there but have seen info
given on chat board. Don't get me wrong it doesn't bother me,
as long as they get help but have seen newbies told by some
in a bossy way that they are on the wrong board.Maybe it depends
what time of year and if the chat board is slow. :-)

"Etymology 2From gob (mouth) + b + -y. The meaning "inclined to talk" is probably related to gabby.

1.(UK, slang, said of a person) Talkative: inclined to talk much; inclined to shoot one's mouth off.

gab·by (gb)
