Never mind Cane, thanks anyway. He has had an extended birthday this year lol as we spent last evening together too altho I had to share him with nearly 40 of his pals.

On Friday my son was quite poorly, stomach upset which sounded to me the way he used to get when he was really overtired as a child, he did get some rest and was sort of ok by Saturday lunchtime altho didn't feel up to going out with his pals in the afternoon as had been arranged. That made things very difficult for his gf as she had been organising a surprise party for him at his favourite local venue and lots of people were supposed to be turning up. She managed to make an excuse to go out and left him sleeping, and she and her friend went and decorated the venue with 16 helium balloons, blue and silver stars and such, a big banner she had ordered especially for him saying Happy Birthday G and a pic of him on there. She also put up three big cardboard displays of photos, I helped with those and got lots scanned of him as a toddler etc, and fun ones from our holidays and such. His older female friend and boss at his part time job did a big Pass the Parcel up with quirky gifts in each layer and his gf sketched a donkey on a big piece of paper and made it into a Pin the tail on the Donkey game. There were bowls of sweets and lollies on each table and some disposable cameras as well, and his boss hired a table tootball game. (She calls herself his big sis and has always been very supportive of my lad, she has no family close by and has now decided if my lad is her brother, I must be her spare Mum lol I don't mind in the slightest, she is a lovely young woman)

My o.h. and I got there at 8 pm and gradually others came in, and at 8.30pm my son's gf brought him in. He thought he had arranged a sort of get together with a few mates at a pub for the evening, and she had to do a bit of fibbing to get him to the venue instead but his face was a picture when he saw all his mates there, mostly single lads but some with gfs and some female friends too. I was so proud at the way his friends from school and later on employment had turned up with cards and hugs for him, made me quite emotional. We have loads of pics, his gf had recorded all his favourite music on her ipod so that was played in the background and all in all it was a great night. We left them to it at 10..30pm - we had had it by then lol - and they had the room till midnight and then the main venue was available to them all as well (downstairs)

I think that's one birthday he will remember for a long time.

Well it's obvious I can't hack late nights out now lol, I slept for hours yesterday to get over the party lol

Rang my lad later on to see if he was ok, he said he wasn't feeling 100% after the tummy upset and then drinking quite a bit of alcohol (his mates were buying him lager and tots/shorts too) but had had a great time and was ok. He said they gave out the balloons to other clubbers who were allowed access to the room after midnight from the dancehall downstairs but he kept the photoboards and other things and took them home with him. His boss had also organised a book where everyone wrote messages for him too which was lovely, there were some funny and some naughty sketches on some pages but some lovely messages too and most written early in the evening before alcohol clouded minds.
I am really pleased he had a good time, it will have given him a boost that was badly needed as his confidence has taken a knock with being out of work for so long. Maybe soon he will find his niche and be happily back at work before Christmas. It will be a testing time for his relationship too as so far his gf has only known him while he is around most days and so able to be flexible about time spent with her while her little lad is at nursery or with his daddy, the lad starts school proper in September.

Thanks again for all the good wishes

Lizxx

O.h. has done him a disc with all his photos on including some mini videos too so he can watch that as well as look at the photos people took on the disposable cameras there
