The bobtails look after themselves :-)

Once we start growing toms again it will be every man,or lizard, for him(her)self.

Still, they are cheaper than having to buy snail pellets :-D

Bobtails! Cute little things. We've got monster water dragons.

I just started a new post about tonight's sighting - a Tawny Frogmouth.

As for Pay TV - Himself has it. I say that, because I hardly ever watch tv. Pay TV to me means you pay a lot of money to watch a greater choice of rubbish, and lots more advertisements.

Just an update!

Now that the weather is warming up (32C today) the bobtails are becoming more active. We had at least three turn up outside our backdoor yesterday, and another couple today.

After a feed of tomatoes they wandered back into the garden.

Their tastes are becoming more expensive, with some tomatoes currently costing about $10.00 per kilo :-(

I've got a few 'bob-tailed' sloworms, thanks to my cats :-0

When my daughter was small, my office was in a building that was in acres of gardens, and we used to have to drive or walk down a long drive lined with huge rhododendrons and various deciduous and evergreen trees. It was very shaded, and often damp.

J had been off daycare for a couple of days with a bad cold, which meant I'd had to stay home. On the third day, I decided to take her into work with me as I had something important to do.

There had been very heavy rain for several days, but that morning was just drizzly.

We walked down the driveway, and must have passed at least a dozen slugs creeping out onto the tarmac.

Now these were not your ordinary piddly little slugs.


Here we have the Pacific Banana Slug, which is the second largest slug in the world. They are usually various shades of yellowish-brownish, and up to 25cm (or almost 10") long


3 year old daughter was of course very intrigued with them


That evening we had visitors at home. They asked daughter what had she done that day, and the following conversation ensued ..................

"I went to work with mummy"

"Oh, where does your mummy work?"

"She works at the Bot-an-i-cal Gar-den" (said very precisely and carefully)

"Oh, what does a Botanical Garden do?"

"They grow slugs"

it was the same in Western Australia, but as a family, we were fortunate that we had purchased a digital tv some time before the change over. Also our aerial which was fitted 18 years ago was able to pick up the digital signal.

The analogue service has not yet been turned off but will be soon. As in the UK there is absolutely nothing on worth watching. Also the picture frequently freezes!

We could subscribe to a Pay TV Service but are reluctant to do so

I am glad the bobtails are safe.

Over here in England, going digitial was not an option as the broadcasting company turned off the analogue signal.

Lots of people bought equipment that didn't work and loads got ripped off as they tried to get aerials and other equipment for the digital switchover.

I think it was an absolute con. The TV picture still has interference and there is beggar all on it!

Complete waste of time and money and many are still without proper working TV's simply because they did not qualify for help with the digital turnover.

We are having repeats of all the old programmes. On the buses; Please Sir etc. When TV here recently went digital and we were able to access more 'free to air' channels they just showed repeats.

I'm waiting for Crossroads to start again! :-(

your very behind the times there Allan,havnt watched s-Skippy the bush kangaroo since i was 6,do they still show it in aus?? :-D

Suzanne, kangaroos hardly come under the category of small furry creatures despite all the cutesy tv programmes featuring Skippy :-D

We do, however, buy kangaroo steak from the local supermarket :-P

TO ALL POSTERS,Allan forgot to say that the reason kangaroos are not seen much around his area is because hes BBQ and eaten most of them.x :-D
