places ever to visit, is York,

so me n the dragon took baby S on the train today,

what a day, love the museums, and shops, the shambles,
the whole atmosphere of the place,

altho we couldnt get him in the york dungeons, maybe next time,

anyone else been to york?

I love the place - love walking through the Shambles and was there not so long ago.
On an interesting yet amusing note, they have just turfed the inside of the Cathedral/Minster

Stray I used to love York and yes the shambles, thanks Errol for reminding me. I haven´t been there for years but York has a special place in my heart.

somebody in my family was married in York minster in the 1700s
anD today we had such fun even though it rained on and off
there was plenty to do

and our entry tickets last a year so will deffo be going back agin soon :-D :-D

aw i love the place, its the first time littlemans been and will remember, as he was much to young before,

and the 2 museums we went in "jorvik centre, n castle museum" was pay in, and free for the rest of the yr, so we defo gong back, SOON


one day when you go again uzzi, we will have lunch :-P

must admit all the walking broke my back lol,

The only time I have been to York was a few years ago to meet up for the very first time with 2 Birth Brothers and Cousin.Other than it being a very unreal experience meeting these 'strangers ' who were my family I loved York!
Great place .I'd love to back again to actually see it properly so I could take it all in.Loved the Cathedral.Sounds like you had a good day out :-D :-D

Yes, it's lovely, we had a weekend there some years ago and I visited on my own late 1980s. Walked around the walls, and went to Jorvik centre, also Castle Museum.

Apart from the obvious as already stated i used to spend many happy weekend in York for the Night life in the 70's and 80's some great pubs and clubs

they also have the Railway Museum which is great - son used to live there - driver on Trans Pennine trains - love the place - Jorvic Centre fantastic and the cathedral - love the Shambles - great shops too - Fenwicks and Browns - two shops we don't have in Cardiff

you can have tea in the Railway Museum = it's brilliant even if you donlt care for trains that much - so many interesting things in there

Been a couple of times but ages ago. And we visited the Railway Museum and the castle museum and the Shambles. Loved it. For the life of me can't remember where we were staying. I guess it has to be Whitby.

we were originally going to go to whitby, but they have took the trains of, n the bus journey was going to be 3 hours :-(

so i asked how much it was to york on a whim :-D

we went to whitby museum play park last sunday :-D

I visited York in 1997 with my sister and her OH. We were there the day of Di's funeral so we couldnt really look around the minster as they had a tv there for people to watch the funeral on.We also visited the Shambles, and the Railway museum. And walk on part of the wall. I must put some photos of my English trip on my FB page some time.

its the history of the city that intregues me to,

the castle museum is supose ot be oe of the most hauting buildings in england :-0

I love York, Stray. We've been there a number of times when we've visited the UK and I never get sick of it. I love all the little shops in the Shambles, Jorvik centre and of course York Minster. Glad you had a great day <3
