It's sometimes said that some people are on here "24/7"... I expect most of those people, like me, have their PC on most of the day but actually use it comparatively little in actual minutes of reading or posting and not always on this site when they do .

Yesterday... I painted two walls, made small cakes, did washing, two cooked meals and a few snacks, hoovered my bedroom, sorted out several items sold on ebay, packed them, sorted through and packed a pile of old letters to send to a cousin, listened on the phone to an elderly friend's woes, fed the birds twice, cleaned the windows and ....so on lol

and in between, in passing, I clicked on a few threads here for 'relaxation' ...so 24/7? nope. But isn't it good that one can sit down and look at family trees, conversations, the news, and 'what's on at the pictures' etc all in the one place...I love the internet ( even when sometimes I don't lol).

Same. I have my PC in the corner of my kitchen so when I stop for a tea or a cig break I flick open one of the windows I have permanently opened..have a read...might post..might not...then go back to work again.

Speaking of which...........*eyes hoover* lol x

Does drinking beer and being on the Internet with the TV on in the background qualify as multi tasking :-D

Well as many know on here I make jewellery, I have the laptop open most of the time to watch for orders, keep up with my promotions and network with other crafters.

I also look after my OH who is wheelchair bound after amputation, and am full time carer for him, as there is little he can do until we have had our flat adapted, which is taking a lot of time...so for safety's sake I have to be here, and to deal with his personal hygeine as he is unable to get into the bathroom, (door's too narrow), and his physio, and we can't get him out much as the grassy bank gets boggy after rain and the wheelchair gets stuck...becuase we are waiting for a proper access ramp to be built.

So I spend some time on here and facebook too? As said before, we don't get out much at the moment, I don't own a car, so it's public transport, it's a way of keeping in touch with family and friends that I don't get to see so much. I admit I haven't done much to my tree lately, but anyone who knows me and knows what we've been through lately...there's only so many hours in the day.

Sounds as though you make the most of your hours TW. Actually it sounds as if you have more hours than me!

I'm the same Rose. I turn on the computer/laptop and have a certain number of tabs (Firefox) that open each time. I'll read a couple of threads on one or more of the sites but then I'll go and do something. For example, this is the first time I've been on GR all day.

I get up & log on, read emails/messages here & on other sites I visit whilst drinking a cup of coffee.

I leave pc running all day, having a look at threads/Family Tree, Farming etc between jobs around the house, cooking, gardening etc.

My family all use Skype to contact me to save on phone bills, plus it is more like talking face to face. If I am not logged on & I have not told them I am going out they get worried.

I am a sad old dear who is stuck indoors unless OH is home to take me out. Laptop is switched on as soon as I get up. I open my usual windows to check email, messages, skype, GR, FB, Ancestry and google.

I rely on the internet to keep in touch with family all over the world.

I spend hours on all of the above, transferring info onto spreadsheets and record cards.

Draft designs onto graph paper by hand then input them to whichever programme they belong to.

My phone alerts me to messages if I am doing dreaded stuff like cleaning, washing and cooking. I am on the phone a lot...lolol

My life and I live it the way I choose to and it's nobody's business but mine.
