what are your solutions?

Porkie_Pie

Porkie_Pie Report 24 May 2012 19:24

double dip recession? Did we ever recover?

I don't think so,

The problem with this countries problem is we are far to close to the rest of europe and we live in a global economy

I just wish that the political party would stop trying to score political points every time they are asked about the situation these MP's from all the parties are supposed to represent their constituents and instead of slagging each other off it would be nice in these difficult time if they would came up with policies and solution instead of the spin,

That would be a start

My solution would be to make the banks write off all the toxic debt they took on through sheer greed and start afresh. Thats just for starters.

We wrant a buoyant economy? Start manufacturing again and accept 5 years of no pay rises and take the pain. Just like germany did. Drastically trim the public sector and cut the top heavy management in the nhs. Make the taxation system understandable to all and cut bureacrocy back to the bone.

Thats for starters.

DIZZI Report 24 May 2012 19:45

MAYBE IF THE BANKS STOP LETTING ALL THOSE COUNTRY'S WITH HUGE DEBTS OFF PAYING BACK THE MILLIONS THEY LENT THEM IN THE FIRST PLACE

NOW DEAR MR BANK OWNER
CAN I PLEASE BORROW A FEW MILLION
I HAVE EVERY INTENTION OF NOT REPAYING

Rambling Report 24 May 2012 19:51

:-D Stray is that for economy or a new source of wind powered energy?

I was discussing economics and previous recessions with D last night (cause and effect etc... he is much more into economics than me ) and couldn't really come up with any answers.... I do wonder sometimes if there is a 'solution' or whether the majority have to get used to doing without and our standard of living drop permanently?

StrayKitten

StrayKitten Report 24 May 2012 19:54

why dont they just print more money,
and not worry if we have the gold reserves to cover it hahaha

Porkie_Pie

Porkie_Pie Report 24 May 2012 20:01

Stray, Gordon Brown sold most of our gold reserves at a time of prosperity at the time when gold was at an all time low,

gold reserves where their for just this occasion but as Gordon said gone are the days of boom and bust

I never could understand those who claimed he was a good chancellor

and as for printing money they call that quantitative easing to confuse the general public into believing it's some thing good to do, it has the same affect as devaluing the pound their for adding to inflation

The recovery is also not helped with dodgy greedy employers who used the recession as an excuse to get employees to work harder and longer hours whilst cutting wages,

Then on the next set of accounts these companies show a sharp increase in profits

If you pay your employees less that means they have less to spend on items produced including services and commodities produced by these same companies thus making it a self defeating exercise and they are now having to lay people off because demand is down,

And these so called business men wonder why?

I do no of several large companies that have done this

Irrespective of whose fault it WAS ( and I could hark back to Thatcher's recession ;) ) that doesn't really help solve the problem...that is what both parties do when they get in, blame the outgoing party ..if they stopped doing that it would give much more confidence in believing they are thinking about the country and the people, rather than point scoring and making themselves comfortable in the 5 years they have in power.

JoyBoroAngel

JoyBoroAngel Report 24 May 2012 21:59

i think the party that lies the best get in to be honest ;-) ;-)

Rambling

Rambling Report 24 May 2012 22:06

Joy, I think there are individual politicians who really do have commitment, passion and honesty, it's just that so often they are the thorn in the side of their own party lol...it would be a bit like trying to get a concensus on policy amongst GR members....there might be a majority who would compromise
( left or right) and a few individuals who won't give way on a subject where they know they 'are right' ;-)

Porkie_Pie

Porkie_Pie Report 24 May 2012 22:10

Rose, you can also hark back to the days of Wilson, Heath and Callaghan they all got it wrong

but we are where we are as i said earlier MP's from all the parties are supposed to represent their constituents and instead of slagging each other off they should be working together to help resolve the situation insead of point scoring,

JoyBoroAngel Report 24 May 2012 22:14

what we really need Rose is jobs to get this country on its feet
instead of importing things
we need to open factories that make things we need

IE VASELINE toilet rolls sanitary wear condoms and tablets for the NHS sheets duvets
and many more things
