Ha, ha. It's a TA you get at school when your writing hand is in plaster, not a PA. Teaching Assistant not a Personal Assistant. Made me laugh. So glad your grandson is OK, Carol. :-). My grandchildren don't go out much on their own yet. The 10-yr old is a bit dizzy so wouldn't be safe. (Dizzy as in dippy even though she is bright she is away with the fairies half the time). The 5-yr old lad is very level-headed and would probably cope fine with crossing the road but who lets a 5-yr old out nowadays? I used to let their Mum play out on the pavement with her dollies in their pram when she was two. Who would do that now? It was in the mid-80's. I knew she wouldn't go in the road and I used to keep the front door open so she could call me if she wanted. Amazing when you think back.

Thanks everyone for your support, unfortunately when I phoned they had gone to see partners brother, but they are coming to lunch tomorrow so I can tell him off then ;-)

Sorry to hear of your young grandson's accident.
I can imagine how you felt, but hope that when you see him you will be reassured that he is progressing well.
As others have said, young bones heal surprisingly quickly if they are not out of line.

I hope he will soon be fully fit.

Thanks Chris, Florence and Dawn and Jacky, yes I think he must feel a lot better as he is already telling mum what he won't be able to do. She has only just started letting him go out on his own, remember would not let my son out, but you have to let them find their feet at some time, all I hope is that he has learnt not to step of the kerb without looking.

Just going to see him for myself then I will feel happier.

Poor lad. The half splint is usually temporary for a few days to allow swelling to go down. He will then go back to the fracture clinic to have a full flaster put on. If the fracture is clean and simple they may leave the half one on.

Good luck for a quick recovery and hope he will be able to wear his jacket!

Oh , Carol so sorry to hear your sad news.

I can relate to the same happening to my grandaughter a couple of years ago now when she was 13, also a head injury.

She did come out of it vertually unscathed , she had to keep going back for check ups due to the head injury,
apart from few headaches , swelling .and flash backs she was very lucky.
but she is fine now.
Mind you all us adults had had kittens,

So all the best to a swift recovery , and hope you all your family a happy easter.

Thanks Suzanne, did worry when first heard about ear, but believe it was localised. Apparently in half splint as still swelling that is why they will not change for several weeks, daughter probably has that wrong, will go in morning and see for myself. Thanks Ingrid.

Botton line to this daughter and dad our getting married after 13 yrs in 6 weeks, so he will probably not be able to wear his suit jacket.

Yes Suzanne apparently from ear no further, was checked out, I have spoken to him and feel assured, his mum will keep a close eye on him all night.
