Simmered in a pan then served on thick buttered toast or with a full English, no matter what time of day it is, big dollop of brown sauce on top.

The only thing I fry is either an egg or chips.

As for fried bread ..... yuk :-| :-|

Stray I like them on jackets with cheese as well.

Julia my OH doesn't cook at all except he does a mean fry up. And this evening he did his signature dish. Lovely it was too. :-D

On toast with cheese on top.

I like them slowly heated in the pan with a knob of real butter in to thicken the sauce.

Thing is, I tend to eat half of them before I put them on the heat LOL so you could say I like them cold too.

Never had them fried...but I do like them with bacon and mushrooms.

and microwaved they dont taste the same :-(

i like them cooked in a pan, they are lovely on top of marmite n toast :-D

sometimes add cheese on a jacket spud with beans ;-)

Especially now I cannot face a full breakfast and because of that about once every 6-8 weeks (as last night) we have it for our evening meal. OH has it about once a week, usually on a Saturday and gives me a bacon buttie instead of toast!

Ann, not much of a fried food eater at the best of times, todays bacon and beans are really because of the OH. But, I could not face it first thing in a morning, holiday or not.
I would be more likely to have some scrambled eggs and grilled bacon, or a couple of poached eggs on toast, with a runny yolk.. Not the OH, however, he would eat the full English. God Bless his stomach. LOLOL

Chris, have always had baked beans as part of full English, as far back as I can remember. Not keen on tomatoes (fresh or tinned) with it as it makes the fried bread/toast too sloppy.

Prickles Babes, it's how the cowboys ate their's. Thick slice of bacon in the pan first, about as thick as a bacon chop. Removed when cooked, and beans put in pan into the bacon fat. LOLOL

As an aside from this and I apologise if this questions has been asked before when and why did baked beans appear on a full english breakfast?

Is this a regional thing? But then OH is southern and I am northern but agree on contents of full english.

My idea of a full english is bacon, egg, sausage, mrooms. fried bread, squashy toms as I can bash into f. bread and possibly if lucky blk pudding.

I love my beans boiling hot and thick cut bread with brown sauce all over and if im pushing the boat out a poached egg on top YUMMY :-D

Fry the bacon then fry a slice of bread in the bacon fat and then put marmalade on the fried bread, now that is lush :-D

I buy those tiny tins in Poundland. Whatever size tin you have you will eat it.

Usually just warm them up in a pan or in the microwave.

Saw Anthony Worral-T do them once by reducing in a pan, adding ground black pepper and some cream. Tried it once and it was good but a lot of faff for baked beans.

I have never even heard of them being fried, - what a sheltered life down here!

I usually buy reduced salt and sugar variety of S*insbury own brand.
Don't like them mushy, but they are OK cold, but generally just have them heated through by simmering gently in a pan.
