We don't eat much red meat at all so use turkey mince cooked just the same as beef with carrots and onions. I make turkeyburgers with a touch of sage in, lovely. |

I cook it for about half an hour ,with nothing added and leave it in the pan overnight,with the lid on. the way my gt nan showed me in the days before fridges were invented [showing my age now ,lol |

invest in a table top mincer,,,,,,,and buy rump steak or good lean braising steak any fat can be cut off,,,,,see the difference when cooking and taste when cooked,,, |

Ann...this is W-----se meat and lean, l am really surprised how much fat. Still its definately cooked. Vic won't be eating any though...lol...me neighbour will instead:) |

I always buy the lean steak mince. It doesn't have a lot of fat. Some of the liquid won't be fat. With any other mince I always used to bring it to the boil (in the microwave) then drain off visible fat. If I am making bolognese or chilli sauce I only fry it for about 30 - 40 minutes. If I am doing it in the oven I cook it for an hour. In the slow cooker I cook it on low for 9/10 hours. |

Yeh l suppose an hrs usually enough, but l was wondering just how much fat we eat by not cooking it longer. |

...Mince meat (savoury) for......l've cooked ours for about 3 hours and so much fat has come out of it. l know alot of people only cook it for half hr or abit more. |
