Morning Ann, glad I wasn't seeing things. I was beginning to doubt myself. It wasn't Puff Pastry, it was Dessert Pastry, and he used it to make the Chocolate Pie, he presented to the judges.
When the programme first started, and they announced it was all about Pastry, I remarked to the OH, that I wondered if we would see them making it by hand, or by machine. Little did I think they were allowed to use ready made pastry.
Yes, Muffy, I too wonder how many short-cuts are allowed.

wasnt so long ago there was a hu har, over a souffle, it had sunk, but on presenting it it was raised again, they somtimes allow extra time or somthing they said

I couldn't work out what he used puff pastry on unless it was the tart pastry that he burnt. And subsequently didn't serve.

Muffyxx Report 9 Mar 2012 21:11

I should imagine they wave that through because of the time constraints?

Wonder how many other short cuts they take though? x

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 9 Mar 2012 12:17

Thanks so do we.

No it doesn't does it? Or it says a lot for the shop bought pastry and why should we bother to make our own (I don't Lol!) if they don't.

Julia Report 9 Mar 2012 10:57

It doesn't say much for the judges that could not tell the difference from own made pastry and shop bought. After all, they were supposed to be the experts.

Hope you have a nice holiday in the Lake District. I love it there.

Wow, I didn't see that Julia, I would have thought that was not allowed.

So cheats Masterchef then?

Julia

Julia Report 9 Mar 2012 10:16

Right, I hope this appears at exactly 10.15
I will try and set the scene, so that everyone can follow this.
The programme is about half way through, and the contestants have cooked for the old comedians, and have now moved on to cook for the guest judges.
The cammera is at the top of the room, I think they have just filmed the big guy turn some pastry onto thr working surface. The camera moves down to the front of the room, across you TV screen form the right to the left hand side.
It comes to the work station of Andrew, the half Japanese man, and lo and behold, what does it pick up.>>>>>>>>>>>>
Only the opened and used purple packet of>>>>>>>>>>
Jus-Rol Dessert Pastry. BOOM< BOOM.

I told you it was worth waiting for.
Shame on them,. Even I could use that.

When the "afternoon tea" type food was served to the comedians / actors of now and years gone by, I thought that Rodney Bewes looked quite ill; I have an idea that I read he had cancer at some time, I think.

Muffyxx Report 8 Mar 2012 22:14
