Would have passed if I hadn't panicked when I stalled! Oh well, off to get the second one booked... :-D

Just wondered how many goes it took you lovely people to pass (if indeed you have)?

I passed the second time at 17 but my father couldn't afford a professional instructor back in the 60's and I had no idea what the test was about. When I was told my fault, driving through unmarked crossroads, although I knew I was on the 'main' road I didn't do it a second time and I passed. I'm sure you will manage next time. Good luck- jl

I failed first time.

Thought I'd passed as I drove REALLY well ...but stupid instructor said i'd clipped the curb on my three point turn hmmmmmmm

Second one I drove like a muppet and was convinced I'd failed....but was passed anyhow...go figure !!! lol.

My friend took her test 8 times until she went on an intensive course where a pass was guaranteed lolololol

Good luck with the next one ! :-D

I passed my motor cycle test first time

he said ok, and did it right...........

I failed twice. The first time I'd thought I'd done OK but was failed for being too 'aggressive' at a junction, i.e. not looking left and right enough! Afterwards, my instructor said I'd got the awful, misogynistic, grumpy examiner who'd fail his own granny :-D. My second test was just one of those disasters where everything went wrong, plus it was about 90 deg. The examiner was lovely but he couldn't pass me. Third time lucky!!

Passed 2nd time a month after 1st. Didn't drive until nearly 40 years old an it took 3 months. 1st time I was pleased I hadn't passed as the thought of being in the car on my own frightened the life out of me. 2nd time I felt ready.

Good luck for next time :-D

I passed on my 2nd attempt, the examiner had an annoying habit of clearing his throat now and again so everytime he coughed I thought I had done something wrong, he also took me for my 1st test.

My son passed his test first time last year at 17

Passed second time in 1962, failed for not keeping up with the traffic. Portsmouth was horrendous in those days with so many bikes, really scary.

my instructor took me around the likely course, and advised caution on a railway bridge, there was a zebra crossing halfway up, and told me, if you have to stop here, you probably wont have to do a separate hill start!!

coincidentally.........thats what happened.......

I passed on the second attempt when in my early twenties but then didn't drive till I was 27 as I couldn't afford a car. I stopped driving in 1992ish to economise for a few months but never got the car out of the garage again (it was an old Avenger) Then I started driving again when I met o.h. (I was 50) he put me on his insurance and after a few scary tries I was ok and have since driven alone to Sussex from Norfolk and Buckingham from Norfolk and shared the driving to Wales and other places we have visited.

My son has sadly failed his test twice, surprising really as he cycles a lot and had a moped then a scooter for a few years. He just gets really nervous and makes silly mistakes, but can't afford to take more lessons etc at the mo as he is still out of work. It's so expensive now to put in for the theory test again and have more lessons etc etc.

I am really glad I got back on the road again, gives me so much freedom, but I only drive if I am feeling well and if my fm is a problem I won't get behind the wheel.

Vera2010 Report 9 Mar 2012 06:25

Liz although I don't wish to compare my 8 to your son's 2, I was surprised I kept failing but the instructor told me that rather than pay him I would be better to put petrol in someone's car and practice. I got incredibly nervous too which was out of character for me. It was only when I drove routinely as a learner that my confidence returned and I passed.
