I had a Foreign person calling me saying I had been authorised £4K refund from mis sold PPI that I had applied for. He'd introduced himself as John Smith I let him do some of his blurb I asked him to confirm the amount of money I was owed , he said wait one min ma'm and hung up.!!

That's a new one, they usually ask if I am aware that I may have been mis sold a PPI and the introduction name is foreign.

I'm a lady George I wouldn't dream of telling him to bug*er off . ;-)

Please, please, be very careful with callers saying that they are from Microsoft or Windows and that there is a problem with Windows in your area. They will then ask you to go to your computer and follow their instructions. They then take control of you computer. This happened to a friend of mine who was taken in and lost an awful lot of money.

An obvious con when you think about it. How would Microsoft have your name and telephone number? But older people and those not very computer savvy tend to panic when somebody tells them there is something wrong with their computer.
