the fire started in the yard and not in the house,my brothers scooter was on charge outside his living rm window,it seems it over heated and with the fuel in the tank caused it to blow up,blew out his living rm and kitchen windows and set fire to part of the living rm,and he slept through it,would have been no good during the war would he ha ha :-D
thats three of us now that have had house fires.x :-D

Thats Terrible,........glad he got out OK!

a house across the way has been empty for some weeks now, apparently its " on the market"

last weekend it had a pipe or tank burst in the loft and had water cascading out overnight, for about 24 hours..........anglian water didnt want to know but told us the meter number, and we found it and turned off the water,
two days ago the owner turned up with prospective buyers.....

terrible state its now in..........

Suzanne

Suzanne Report 18 Feb 2012 23:50

thats bad that the water company didnt want to know, water causes untold damage and gets everywhere..
Ifeel bad about my brothers fire, but im glad hes ok..my house burnt down in 1996 one month before xmas,we were left with the clothes we stood up in and nothing else.two yrs ago my sister had a house fire caused by the flue from her wood burning stove,it over heated,it had been put in by a so called professional,it guttet her sons bedroom at the top of the house and again no one was hurt.and now my brother, that only leaves one brother,so will be on the phone tomorrow checking that he has the appropriate fire alarms.x

So glad your brother is ok Suzanne!!! It's a blessing that no one was hurt, however, it must be awful to go through this experience and lose so much.

Couldn't help thinking (the genealogist in me sorry) - with all the house fires that you've all had, did you lose any family photographs?

Apart from family and pets, they are the things that I would be worried about losing most,

Suzanne

Suzanne Report 19 Feb 2012 11:41

SECRET SQUIRREL
When my house burnt down i lost everything including family photo"s,childrens school photo"s,wedding album, wedding dress and lots of family china, but there is always someone in the family that has copys of photo"s.
my brother didnt lose anything only his scooter and a few windows, carpet and half his living rm.but nothing of sentimental value.x :-( :-)
