Any more?
Makes me wonder why they've been available for so long if they don't produce mushrooms. They ought to print 'throw on garden' on the box :-| :-S

Tried a kit once and like AnninGlouc - had more success from the mushroom compost used to put on the garden - lovely crops in between the roses!

Wend Report 15 Feb 2012 14:17

Yes, don't throw them away - good stuff. You might even get a crop of mushrooms. I did when I threw spent compost from a kit onto a flower bed.

Sharron Report 15 Feb 2012 14:00

No,I don't actually want a lion's mane. That would make me look silly and it might frighten people.

Come to think of it, I don't even need a lion's mane for that!

Island

Island Report 15 Feb 2012 13:53

now look here Glossy Ann..... :-| :-| :-P

I could crochet you a lions mane if you like Sharron. Might not go too well in an omelet though :-0 :-D

Sharron

Sharron Report 15 Feb 2012 13:47

It's that lions mane fungus I like the look of. I just know it wouldn't grow for me though.

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 15 Feb 2012 13:34

Island

Island Report 15 Feb 2012 13:31

*adds 'garden' to shopping list* Thanks Ann :-)

Actually........I could empty the barn sweepings into one of my large pots :-D

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 15 Feb 2012 12:53

Never tried the kits but some years ago we always used to buy mushroom manure to put on the garden from the growers. this always produced a good crop of mushrooms entirely unaided :-D

Island

Island Report 15 Feb 2012 12:50

Sharron, one looks like a spadeful of barn sweepings and the other was a small log with fungus embedded in it. Authentic or not, I can't be having with flies 'cause I do live in London dahling doncha know *aghast smiley* ;-) :-D

Thanks Fred, was it third time lucky or were you fooled by success the first time?

Sharron Report 15 Feb 2012 12:04

I used to work on a mushroom farm and always wondered what the kits contained.

Do you get a little miniature dung yard and some little air-raid shelters or abandoned railway tunnels?

I am pleased to see that you get authentic mushroom flies. No experience quite like breathing one in.
