Well dressed up in a Monkey Suit would constrain you a little.trouble is you would all have to have your heads shaved. :-D :-D

Sharron

Sharron Report 10 Feb 2012 13:51

We are too hard. You have to show some constraint as a bouncer.

Merlin Report 10 Feb 2012 13:29

Aaaaa you see I have to admit I'm proper clueless on anything like that so it's either OH or Dad who i get to do all that sort of thing for me I should address that really because I don't like that I do it.

Just thinking back I'd say there have been maybe 2 occasions in the last 17 odd years when OH has stepped in......both to do with a family row...and he got an earbashing off me both times for his pains so poor soul can't win lol....I like things done and said MY way or not at all.....all i need from him is to nod wisely and bring me some wine once I've calmed down...that's quite sufficient for me loolololol x

Rambling Report 10 Feb 2012 12:22

Muffy, like you said about the garage, I found when doing up this house that some of the plumbers and electricians would try and go the ' the little woman won't know about such stuff so we'll add on some 00's' route. But I do lol so they didn't get away with it :-D

However, and not having an OH, when it comes to anything computer wise like dealing with broadband supplier I defer to Dan lol he knows it all ;-)

Muffyxx

Muffyxx Report 10 Feb 2012 12:07

Definitely Rose. I would agree with that.

Obviously if it was something ultra serious then that goes without saying.

I'm talking real life kind of run of the mill situations.

Not real life changing humdingers lol x

Rambling

Rambling Report 10 Feb 2012 11:50

Depends on the situation?

I think if one is unable to defend one's own honour, for a good reason, then it is perfectly valid for an OH to step in and say "this is a lie...etc, leave her alone ".

I can think of one case immediately where a spouse speaking on OH's behalf ( for the sake of honesty and justice) would be perfectly acceptable!

I defend my own, I expect my own to defend me IF needed lol. I don't think that's 'defering' in any way...it's 'back up' lol.

Sharron

Sharron Report 10 Feb 2012 11:12

Yes I am respectful when working and a right git at home.

What I was really saying about him losig his job etc, was that, as a partner, your role is to be on side when needs must.

They may be partially to blame but, at that time, it is cruel and lazy to tell them. They do not need to know until later, they need comfort and support.

Kay????

Kay???? Report 10 Feb 2012 08:54

certainly not,,,Ive dealt with tough cookies and they dont faze me but I have 2 sides one trained to be diplomatic and in personal life jumping jack flash............my OH wouldnt get involved, unless it was physical to deal with a another male.

cat calls dont interest him..... ;-)

Muffyxx

Muffyxx Report 10 Feb 2012 07:30

I think your OH and mine are quite similar in that way Hayley. They don't say too much but watch everything. I'm also the youngest and I do think it teaches you to REALLY stand up for yourself more having that position in the family.... Certainly my youngest is far feistier than my eldest.....so I think there's a lot in that.

Sharron it's so hard to help them when they lose their jobs....I remember it very well...just gentle encouragement...not so much that it's pressure...but not so little that they demotivate...it's like walking a tight rope.x

Silly Sausage Report 9 Feb 2012 23:50

Mine OH is a quite man, and he is the only one that is able to cool my tempter when I loose it which isnt often but when I do it can last for days. He grants me with enough intelligence to be able to defend myself I am the youngest of 4 sisters I have learnt that from the crib. In my everyday life like Sue I have had to be broad shoulded, thats to say he does get upset if I am and he would defend me to end if need be but with my gob the time has never arose :-D

Sharron

Sharron Report 9 Feb 2012 23:43

Mine was brought up to believe that the important thing is to keep up the pose at all times so he is more interested in looking like a good boy.

We have recently had words about this. I had had a run in with somebody and, on the way home, he started telling me how he could see both sides of the situation.

Well,I don't care what he can see, When somebody has upset me I want him to comfort and placate me.It is his unique roll as my partner.

He lost a job that I would not have even considered him for. When he lost it I was saying all the right things to him.It is not a time for my opinions. It is a time for me to support,
