things? I have just struggled to tell D the name of an actor on tv....I could remember lots of things he had appeared in, other cast names , even who wrote it...but could I remember his name! I had to drag it out :(

all the time....my memory is appalling! I do worry and then I forget to worry until something else that I've forgotten prompts me.

I'm worse than you, i can't remember the names or other characters in the film/tv show and have to relate it to a previous film/show of one of the other characters by describing the previous show/film etc. I kid you not!

I think it worries me more because I have always been good at remembering names :-( it was Robert Lindsay btw and as soon as I remembered I couldn't believe I had forgotten it in the first place :-|

Do you find that you kind of learn to not be able to remember what something is called.

I once forgot what a piece of furniture was called and now find it almost impossible to remember the word 'sideboard'.
The same with 'briefcase'.

Ever since his stroke my dad has always had a kitchen roll about him somewhere but he has never been able to remember what it is called. It is as if his mind deliberately blocks it. He had to re-learn the names of many things and once he had, the name stayed with him but kitchen towels have been all sorts of things, zebras, cesspit contenets, a sack of mussels, mangolds but never kitchen towels.

yes you see Bob I remembered that lol, and 'GBH' and who was in it with him, and 'Jakes Progress'...shakes head at self :-S

Not had that ...yet...Sharron, but it just reminded me that my mum could never say the word candelabra (lol not that it cropped up in conversation often ) it always came out as Candle-a-bra :-D

I had a friend who drank Tia Marie and went to Porchmouth which I thoght must be her own little quirk.

Then I met her elderly uncle who had recently been to a barley cue at which somebody had arrived on a motor peg.

I do find I sometimes struggle for a word but can usually dredge it up from the murky depths of my mind. When my late Mum had a stroke she would get part way through a sentence and stop and then repeat it hoping I suppose that the next word would come, I told her her needle was stuck. Luckily she got over the problem after a week or so.

I worry that I will get worse but I put it down to age and the fm sleep problem.

I have stopped worrying about it, been happening for years. Hav total recall of events in my youth and right through until now but names of people and sometimes things often elude me. I usually give up and they come to me when least expecting it.

Eeeeeer What WAS the question?he he ,seems from the latest scuttlebutt from the scientific community ,you start to loose the old brain cells in the middle teens ,and the recall in the early thirties ooooerrr ,an old fogie like me ,has no perishing chance ,lol.Fred.

That began happening to me when I was young and would gallop upstairs and then wonder what it was I had come up for - I would remember again when I returned downstairs only to go upstairs................................. Nowadays if that happens It takes me forever in the stair lift!!

Don't let it worry you Rose! I maybe only 19 but I freely admit that my short term memory is shocking, and can relate to many of the stories on this thread. It's quite good for the long term, but like all of us, the occasional name does escape me :-D

lots of people on statins have memory problems
that they realise are cause by the tablets

so check you pills all memory strugglers x

My OH & myself help each other out .with names & places
our youngest son .says when we are in company its like a two ronnies sketch .i start he finishes .i am the short one :-D

Thats very interesting JoyBoroughAngel. I have recently not been able to remember things whiih were very obvious when I did. I did start to worry a bit about it but then forgot to worry! I am on a research trial for those statins and have been for nearly a year. I will tell the nurse/co-ordinator when I next attend Maybe thats the reason for my poor memory.

I am on statins but I think I had the same problem before I started taking them so can't blame them.

As we get older, we may wonder more about the hereafter - I frequently find myself in another room wondering "What am I here after"
