We have individual thermostats on each radiator, but only the ones in living-room, kitchen and bathroom are on. We don't like heated bedrooms. |

18 at the very most, and I turn it right down at night as the boiler is below my bedroom and if it kicks in wakes me up, sounds like a helicopter is landing lol. |

As I understand it the thermostat only governs the place it is situated. The heat from the radiators is supposed to be worked out by their size. So if the thermostat is in a cold hallway it could be switching the rest of the system to accommodate the hall. |

I live in a cottage, and the thermostat is in the hall, so I set it at 30 because its not the ideal place to have a thermostat. |

Now up to 1966 I had never had central heating and I daresay the greater majority of us did not. |

I've completely changed my thinking on heating the house this winter - the money my lovely OH left in the building society is gleaning no interest whatsoever and funds are dipping quite low, so I now only have the bathroom radiator on upstairs cos let's face it, heat from downstairs goes upstairs anyway. |

Ann - what you do makes sense - you stay warm. I have a pashmina given to me - occasionally if I feel a chill - it is very handy for either throwing round my shoulders or across my leggies! |
