Don't blame you Iris. I have in my loft at home a bag of rolls of wrapping paper I bought when with Mum and I have lots from when she died and found them in her cupboard. One day they will be used up or put in a museum lol

It used to be a sort of tradition with my Mum and me to go to the January sales to stock up on cards and wrapping paper for the next Christmas but now it's so easy to find reasonably priced cards of all kinds, shame the stamps are so dear tho. I am trying to get most of mine done by tomorrow so they can go second class.

My knee was giving me gip so I bought my cards where I did my food shopping. Very pretty too all glittery and appliqued. Now realise they might go over the limit for the usual postage. Any way I haven't even written them out yet.

I find Christmas gets less and less appearling every year but I am looking forward to my roast dinnner which my daughter will cook (er heat up).

Well just shows how things are biting as they only reduce normally in January. But as OH says I have benefited and the donkeys have benefited so all are happy.

You have to save money where you can Chris so well done.

How sad is this - I ordered next years - last night! I take it in turn to buy from The Dogs Trust and Donkey Sanctuary and the Sanctuary have reduced some of their cards by half already.

I did read that it was a waste of time using first class these last couple of weeks as theyw ill all get treated the same.

Morning All
I always get mine from the British Heart Foundation shops. They have a good selection and are in packs of 10. and are of a good quality.
I bought a special one for someone, from T**co, and paid for the one, what I had paid for the pack of ten charity ones.
Have to get some more today from same charity shop.

I tried to buy some Charity ones but with so many to send had to get cheaper ones as well where I could, my post office bill the other day for two packs of 12 2nd class stamps and those for abroad, came to nearly £20!!!! My o.h. said why do I do it, but it is sometimes the only link with friends of the family and such who live abroad and I would hate to lose touch altogether. That's why I am trying to get them ready before the weekend deadline for 2nd class post, I usually end up with last minute panic and 1st class stamps lol

My o.h. is upset as he makes a big effort to get nice special Son and d.i.l. cards etc for his family. His father started sending us just an ordinary card from a box and then his son did it too so he had no Father/Dad or Son ones. This year his son said he wasn't going to bother with cards for people he would see over Christmas but he won't actually see his dad till 27th and I won't be going there, as the other son from U.S. is going to be there and I would rather stay here and have a day to myself. O.h. said he was unhappy with the idea so today a card came via the exwife who visits weekly to childmind while the d.i.l. is back at work, and it was just to Grandad from the granddaughter, aged one, saying Daddy is being tight this year so this is the only card you will get. Means I don't even get a Christmas greeting but doesn't bother me much. O.h. is upset tho, says I bet he doesn't get away without sending his mother one even tho they will be spending Christmas together, she is always front of the queue to be with them so we get pushed out. I can't believe they are so mean, when their dad makes such an effort with cards. At least his Dad got the message and got him a special one last year, I just got an ordinary one lol Miserable beggars, the lot of them!

At least you still get cards...my neices and nephews complain they don't have time and it is a waste, they will send a text or email,,,

It's not quite the same. I'd much rather receive a nice card than a text message..but tehy all think I am old fashioned! :-(

I made all my own and I also receive a lot of hand made cards. I was quite disturbed to read the other day that some cards sold in the name of charities only mean the charity gets an extremely small proportion of the cost.
It is the postage that will kill sending of cards. My foreign cards alone cost me £8 in postage.
