My o.h. is fairly self sufficient altho got out of the habit of cooking for himself since I moved in, he would not go hungry if I wasn't here but wouldn't eat properly for his diabetes problems etc He manages his own finances and I do mine, but I often have to jog his memory about things, such as what is this cheque I have written out for x amount so I look and figure out it's the window cleaner or dentist etc

What gets me tho is that many of you say you or your o.h. can't do certain things, it's worrying that they or you might be in a real muddle with joint finances and coping day to day if/when (it's sadly inevitable as we age) one of you is left to cope alone. I don't mean things like using the computer, there are people you can get in if no family to help, but paying bills and doing other stuff is essential and could leave someone in a real muddle if they can't access the bank accounts or whatever.

My son has all the details needed to access my stuff so I know he would be able to deal with everything necessary, but o.h. hasn't given his sons or me his passwords etc so things would be difficult to say the least. Can't even get him to make a will, keeps saying he will but not getting round to it.

Both us know all about our finances and as to wills they were updated. People sometimes forget to do this and circumstances do change. I would be worried about the no will. Does he even realise what hassle this will cause? Power of Attorney should also be considered when updating/making will.

How this thread has wandered from allowing OHs on Pcs!

I think thats what is called being PC. :-D. Re power of Attorney,Its a good Idea,However, ensure you have a built in safeguard,People have been ripped off before now by not doing so.(Including Family) As I know from what my Sister did to our Mother.**M**. :-S

Power of attorney is much more expensive to do now too. we keep putting that off. We do both have wills and also knowledge of each others banking arrangements, although we have a main joint account we both have our own accounts and own ISAs as well.

Well I think the thread deviated a bit cos we seem to have OH who leave us to do the technical bits and either dont want to or cant be trusted to do the PC and other devices ,unless its being in charge of the remote !!lol

My OH too doesnt know how to text or even delete texts from his mobile .

We have done wills though and updated them a few years ago to take into account the current family at that time which is still current.

The thing is we let them think they are charge and think the good idea was theirs in the first place. Its all the female wiles but dont tell em !! :-D

Women are probably much better than us men on the computer seeing as most of them are on the blinking thing most of the day, you only have to look on here to see how many women are on all day ;-) ;-) ;-) ;-) ;-) ;-)

Us men have other things to do than while away the day chatting on computers :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D
