Merlin, get him checked out, he may have a urine infection and that could be his way of telling you. A clean cat that soils suddenly needs checking out, I think. Ahem, maybe its your feet that need checking! Can remember when OH's feet were so bad i threw his socks out of the bedroom window because of the smell! |

We've had cats since we married 30 years ago. We always take in rescue cats & have had a couple who just appeared from nowhere & became part of the family. The old boy we have now, Rusty, is 21 (that's him in the photo). He was originally a neighbours cat but always came round to us to play with our big ginger boy, Sandy. The neighbours got fed up with him & "replaced" him with a grey persian. You never saw such an ugly brute! Well, we couldn't leave Rusty to fend for himself & he's been with us for about 15 years now. He's got a few medical problems & his fur is a bit lumpy but we wouldn't change him for anything. |

The cats we have had over the years we have been married and the ones i remember as a child,I wish I could write a book. They were all so individual. We had one at home in Folkestone which was also a fluffy tortoiseshell, but a lightcoloured one, called of course, Fluff. my sister could do anything with that soppy cat. She used to dress her up in dolls clothes and push her up and down the street in a dolls pram! She didnt come with us when we were evacuated, and I have a horrid feeling Dad had to take her to be put to sleep. |

We have the cat but not the teapot! When our kitten was killed by a car we had one night before deciding it was not a home without a cat. Next day we collected our present puss; a burmese tabby cross who was unwanted. Very wanted by us tho'. |

Dont like not having a dog, but cant execise myself, let alone a dog. But a house doesnt feel like home without at least one cat in it! Even if all they do is sleep! Lizzie has about five mins play , thats all, she is twelve and had been poorly treated before we had her 4 years ago. |

I love this thread, we used to have three cats but they left us one by one of old age. Knowing we had our name down for sheltered housing we didn't replace them but got a cockateil instead, I can't do without a pet we have had cats since before I can remember. Our big fluffy persian used to bring birds in but always unhurt and let them go, one Christmas day we spent ages trying to catch a Robin to get it out. |

Lizzigoes to bed most nights before we do and we have to adjust ourselves around her! She will often wait for me when i get up at night and then escort me back to bed, she likes to keep tabs on her flock. |

We will have to try that. My OH stapled sandpaper on the corners at the back of the settee and she left them alone, only to start further along and underneath. She also swops sleeping places from chair to chair, usually the one you were going to sit on! Wont use a bed except ours! |

Seeing your remark about clawing the settee Jean reminded me of something that might help other owners with claw sharpening cats. |

Our present one is a longhaired tortoiseshell, very dark, and she plays merry hell with the back of the setteee! She also likes a glittery toffee paper to play with, but is gettin gpast that now, but she still has a fair turn of speed when she comes out of her cat tray! I would like to get a stop watch on her. |
