My Dad died on Jan 5th that year, dont really remember that much as I was only little, platform shoes Donny Osmond, slade....and lots of glitter

Oh it was the best time :-D Just started work, music all day in the record shop, Glam rock at the disco on a Saturday night after work, boys ;-) funny I was thinking of one of them last night..... wonder what happened to Stefan lol does he still remember wearing Oxford bags? and is Tonto still wearing that really strong aftershave, and does Weasel still ride a Suzuki lol

i was nearly eleven in 74.i to remember glam rock.
gary glitter and the glitter band,marc bolan,bowie and all the others,
started secondry school that yr and my 15p dinner money was spent on jackie magazineand a quarter of sweet peanuts leaving me 4p to buy 2 fags(number 6)from the corner shop during break.x :-D :-D

I got engaged on my 21st birthday.

Platform shoes, very short skirts and strangely enough maxi dresses.

Well I wasn't allowed to buy Jackie. (Still sulking.)

Fab 208 magazine. Radio Luxemburg on my transistor radio while I was in the bath.

The Osmonds. Bay City Rollers. Slade. T Rex.

The funfair that used to come to our park, complete with songs by Chicory Tip. ( Son of my father...........) Tom Baker, the Doctor Who of our time, driving up our road withe the iconic music playing. Happy days, sigh.

Oh and my damned o level results.....

oh i loved the bay city rollers,i had the white trousers with the tartan at the bottom and the white denim jacket i loved woody and alan,asawa programme about them several yrs ago and they were all bald(oh what a let down)and i met the lead singer at a local fundraising a few yrsago and he was fat.but of course it was 30odd yrsago and no body ever looks the same.

what great memories and stray hun u was thought of just not made as yet. lol

I had my first baby in 1974 - my lovely daughter. We were so excited. We had so much wonderful stuff to come - our first home, two more children. What more could we ask for?

I was 21 in November 1974 but, by then, "coming of age" had been dropped to 18, but when I was 18 it was still 21 (if you see what I mean). Still think I lost out somewhat in a way, although I had a party anyway.

sandie that happend to me,met hubby in 1979 at the age of 16,just done my c.s.e.s got good grades,wanted to be an accountant,it all went out of the window when i met him(we were so in love)married in 1980 andour first daughter born in 81.didmy a levels at the age of 22, trained asa nurse in the 90s after the last of my four children started school.yes im still married to him,love of my life and a great dad,husband and now grandad.x

OH is my toyboy by all of 8 days.

OH and I met when both 14, engaged at 16, married 1976 aged 22 (couldn't afford to buy house until then and living with in-laws wasn't an option. Daughters born 1980 and 1985. Elder one married (but career girl) and younger one still at home so no sign of any grandchildren at the mo.

At the beginning of 1974 I was happily pregnant expecting a baby with my partner in May 1974 By the end of January I had lost my baby daughter at the age of 3 days and weighing only 1 lb 10 oz and soon after that he had to go away for months to work in the States.
When will I see you again? (Three Degrees) came out, and that and some of the other records mentioned above, used to break me up when I heard them. I spent most of that year in a tranquillised haze of sadness.

I think it must have been the worst year of my life.

Reading those titles above bring back so many memories

I lived in Cyprus and days would have been spent taking our young son down into Famagusta in his pram to go shopping in the market.
Afternoons we might have gone to the beach or watch him play on our flat balcony under the shade of the grape vine.
We went to Daff's son's 1st birthday party little knowing what troubles the year would bring.
End of June we returned to UK...just a short time before the troubles in Cyprus really broke out and the Turkish invasion happened.

We had a lovely couple of weeks introducing our toddler son to friends and family before my lovely Dad died suddenly in early August.
I'm just so thankful that we had returned to England and were able to spend that precious time as a family.

My precious tiny son David was born in 1974 - August 19th - a very special babe, after his brother had died at birth 14 months before. It was a time of many wildly varied emotions, he was a wee preemie with respiratory distress syndrome, but has blossomed into a wonderful man with HUGE feet LOL, who has brought so much joy into my life..
That was also the year I began my family tree!!
