• BBC to show only half of the races in final two year of deal
• Savings help BBC keep rights for events such as Wimbledon

Great isn't it? fans will be forced to subscribe to Sky Sports :-(

The wonderful Martin Brundle is not impressed.

I am sick and tired of Sky getting a stranglehold on sport I like viz; rugby and F1.

The excuse is that they couldn't afford both F1 and Wimbledon, well they can take the bat and ball off air for ever as far as I'm concerned.

If I want to see/hear a bunch of woman grunting every time they connect with a ball I'll buy a DVD in a brown paper bag!

No Sky will transmit all, BBC can only transmit half as I read it.

It will be a big financial decision for us but as I don't get out much I guess we'll have to find the extra money each month.

We don't have Sky, so don't know yet what the two F1 addicts in this household will decide on.
OH and younger daughter won't want to miss any action though, so highlights might not be enough......

My son is very upset by this too. Jake Humphrey, Martin Brundle and David Coulthard have been excellent commentators and it won't be the same on Sky - unless Sky decide to buy out their contracts from the BBC.

Sue
Ah I see LOL, being a bit dozy :-

Seems a bit pointless for the BBC to just put half the races on.

End of the road for us then as we don't watch much in the way of other sports - I haven't broken the news to His Nibs yet :-0

I wonder why ITV didn't take it.

ITV's coverage was AWFUL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and I seriously wanted to flatten a certain commentator.

BBC have the right format which fans deserve but Ecclestone only has £ signs rolling in his eyes. He could have struck a deal if he really wanted to support BBC.

I'd forgotten about the horse racing commentator :-0

At least it didn't cost to watch.

I've broken the news to His Nibs. He says no no no.

Not a fan, but can sympathise with those who are - any pubs round your ways who are likely to screen it? They do that for some of the RU games....but only if its during licencing hours and doesn't clash with a major football game.

supercrutch Report 29 Jul 2011 19:01

DET, good idea but that wouldn't cater for the time differences for a lot of races plus I rely on OH to drive the cripmobile and he works 50% weekends.

I am soooooooooo grumpy today :-( :-(

It has been said that if someone has a sky sub (which in this instance includes sports), they can register so that they can stream programmes directly to their computer - edit they get given a code or something

But you didn't hear it from me, and may be an old wives tale. :-)

Fed up with BBC and all the repeats

They advertise new programmes then you realise they are on BBC3.

Lots of sport continue on the Red button.

Tonight watching BBC3 on my computer for the athletics. Why is that not being shown on BBC1 or BBC 2

Love the Grand Prix coverage on the BBC. The commentators are superb.

Will not be getting SKY just to watch the F1 racing

supercrutch

supercrutch Report 29 Jul 2011 20:20

GB you are sooo right re athletics, OH was hopping mad when he couldn't get coverage of an event.

The BBC have produced some superb dramas, which due cost a fortune, but they sell them worldwide.

Why they continue to produce absolute dross for the dumbed down market who knows?

The cost for screening one race for each F1 is approx £1.20, I'd be quite happy to pay that much extra for each race so I guess would the majority of fans to keep it on the BBC.

Do not start me on rugby coverage when we can't see England play without coughing up money!!!
