I can't see in the intros to boards where it says that helpers are members not paid staff.

Rose, when that happens, I just leave the site and go elsewhere - better for the blood pressure ;-)

As a young researcher, I have to say most people I contact are pleasantly surprised that I am taking an interest in my family history, but treat me no differently to anyone else.

However, a couple of years ago when I was about 16, I offered to do a lookup for one particular person, and received an email back from them teling me to "get off of the site and stop wasting everyone's time" or words to that effect!

I am proud to say that I sent them a very polite reply telling them of their misunderstanding, to which I received a long apology, and I am still a Genes member to this day! :-D

No Rose so far that hasn't to me, but to date I haven't had anyone be rude to me either. Also I am a bit of a research addict and love doing searches.

I always say thank you too, when someone has helped me

I could understand it if people were in the employment of GR and you cant get out of it,,but as its off peoples own back then its easy......just dont it, then it wouldnt wind anyone up or feel the need to think one has to be there helping 12/24hours a day....... ;-) ;-) ;-)

if its felt someone isnt giving the right feedback of gratitude then leave them to their own devices of searching and extracting what they need. :-D.

as LG says,,,,,,,,Life is good.
