Ooooh, Allan, dont let the Aussies hear you ask that! It is their native Koala.

Hi Georgina, was not being rude with my reply, but did not find it strange to see people on line day or night, due to time zones, work commitments or insomnia.

After all us Carols need to stick together not many around now as name never became popular ;-)

That's OK Carol
. You know how it goes. You intend to sign off but see a new interesting thread or start one. So you have to see if there are any responses and how things are going. on other threads, cos its not done to post and then leave. Personally I never expect an instant answer to my queries and have had some real surprises at the fast responses, but while I wait I browse the names, and have picked up the times of postings. and then I asked if people are night owls. and it went from there.
I did mention that I am a bit strange, didn't I ??
carol

Really have got to go to bed now, night all.

Yes, I know that Allan, but I thought there might be others who didnt.

We had a couple of toy koalas when we were young. I presume they came from dad's uncle who went to live in Australia. He lived in Mossman and worked at the Sydney Museum.

I'm fine. Had a rotten cold or some such a week ago, had to cancel an appointment as I felt so woozy. I am off to town today when I have finished playing on here and got changed. I will visit my OH after lunch (he seems to be more alert then) and I have the new appointment at 4 p.m. with the hearing aid people. I hope they can sort out these new aids that I got about a month ago. They do NOT work on the phone. I even bought a phone that is supposed to be hearing aid compatible, but no go. The do not always let me hear what people say when they are standing in front of me, e.g. the young man behind the counter when I bought the phone. I am more than a bit browned off with them.

Hey, we have taken over this thread!

Allan

I did realise you were taking the michael! :-)

We still have 2 toy koalas and a toy kangaroo with Joey in pouch sitting in what used to be my daughter's room .... dating back to the year we lived in Melbourne (1975/76). We're not allowed to get rid of them of course!

My aunt, a cousin and ourselves all gave her one or t'other at that Christmas

All made of real kangaroo fur, not sure if that is what they are still made of!

Well, I'm really glad I started that one off I got a real global warming from your responses.

Karen which desert are you in?

Allan, I see you are another Pratchett intellectual. I like the later ones but the earlier ones can be really philosophical.. that is not meant to be another discussion point.

Thank you everyone for cheering me up.

Hi Huia,
reading back through my thread before I go to bed. I'm not a nosey parker, but I find people fascinating. which is why I read the threads. I should have studied the behaviour of people (is that sociology). Someone told me it was a true Aquarian trait. Maybe I'm just a nut case.

ps what on earth is that 'thing' standing in front of you.

Carol, re the name Carol. Yes, it is uncommon now, but it really dates us. We had 4 in our class at secondary school, and 7 in our year. our 4 were all born within 6 weeks of each other, and guess when 2 of them were born - Christmas. Were you a Santa's babe too?

Drat, what I typed has disappeared.

Carol, I also find people fascinating. I like to know what makes them tick, not that I ask questions, I just observe.

That 'thing' in front of me is a statue of me, in the botanic gardens. I am named after a NZ bird, the Huia. It wasnt as big as that of course. It became extinct about a century ago. The tail feathers were highly prized by the Maori as a sign of rank.

I'm usually on the boards in the early hours [I'm in Cardiff, South Wales] - since my husband died I have had trouble sleeping and therefore my sleep pattern is all over the place so I pass the time on the boards - mostly "Find Ancestors" cos I like digging around the census for people - very interesting pastime and keeps the brain active as I have what I consider to be a very unfortunatel birthday tomorrow!!! I ain't growing old gracefully that's for sure!!

Georgina my daughter and a granddaughter have epilepsy as well, so I hear you loud and clear!! Falls off chairs or swings are familiar!
I could be on anytime through the day, sometimes up to 3am our time. We are, at present, 5 hours behind you in the UK - I think!!. I am in Canada, near Niagara Falls.
