I am still cross as well.

I do not have much opportunity to buy raffle tickets anymore as they are not popular here.

Enjoy yourvday and if you buy raffle tickets try to think of me and see if it works?? Well any try is worthwhile!

At about sixteen I won a spot prize at a dance, a box of pretty hankies, when these things were still on coupons. I was scared stiff that they would put my photo in the local paper'cause guess what, Mum didnt allow me to goto dances, though all my friends wre allowed! If she had had her way i would never have got married and remained a virgin!

One of my bestest friends is quite shy, in as much as she doesn't like to be centre of attention.
(What is she doing hanging round with you then..........i hear you cry. Reply:.....shuuu uuup!)
Anyway, we went to a charity evening and bought some raffle tickets.
We had no idea what was on offer at the time. But amongst other things, there was an envelope containing £50 cash, an evelope containing £25 worth of M&S vouchers. A days pampering at a beauty salon and a weekend for four at a golf club.
My number was called whilst i was in the loo and so my friend, who was totally embarrassed had to walk up to the stage and choose a prize.
She grabbed the nearest thing to her.
So what did i win..............a bleddy gift set full of bath goddies!!
I don't doooo baths!!!

We couldn't stop laughing but i will never let her forget it.
I wrapped it up and gave it to her for her birthday as a reminder later that year!!

In the early 1960's I won 52 pairs of tights from the dairy that delivered our milk. They were all America Tan and size small. I am 5' 10''!! Also from the dairy a large pack of felt pens.

I started buying a paper called The Competitors Journal that gave you details of all the current competitions and advice on how to create slogans. I then won a lovely hamper of food. This was wonderful but it was near Christmas and we had two small children and were always penniless so we gave it to the in laws for their family Christmas present.

Years ago the supermarket would have lots of competition leaflets in store and on the product labels. I guess this stopped when price offers started.

I think Bridget might be the 'winner' here.

I forgot to mention winning (I think) 5 shillings from the satchel club in the daily paper, probably the Express when I was about 8 or 9 for writing a journalistic piece. And a few minor competitions in the Competitors journal when I was in my teens and early 20s.

I used to do competition 20 years ago when my kids were young. I liked trying the slogan ones to keep my brain active. I was lucky enough to win holidays, tellys, games consoles, t-towels, pens, fridge magnets. Lots of nice things.

I won a car from the daily express. That was a draw not a slogan competion so I was really lucky.

Dont do them anymore. Theres only internet ones now and I'm up against millions of people.
