Did anyone hear the story on Radio 4 last Saturday of the 48 year old chap who was adopted at 4 weeks old and who has found his mum on facebook -by accident ? !

PollyPoppet

PollyPoppet Report 19 Apr 2011 14:49

Hi Elizabeth
No didnt hear it how wonderful for them that must be mind blowing to do that x

ElizabethK Report 19 Apr 2011 15:52

Yes,he always knew he was adopted-his adoptive parents told him "they were looking after him because his mother could not"

When he was about 12 they told him his mother's name,so he always knew it, but did nothing about finding her as his childhood had been very happy so he was content.

A few months ago he could not sleep and got up to up-date his facebook page (at 3 in the morning !)

Just "playing around" he typed in his mothers name-and there she was looking for him !!

They were both on the programme-even James Muir was looking for tissues !!

He is married with children oof his own and says finding his mother is an "add on" to his family

I will be watching this and will have the tissues handy lol

I just watched a Lorraine Kelly prog on Missing Mums, it was sad to see the family so upset and mystified as to why their Mum went off without any warning, no medication or anything with her, same as another who just took her handbag but nothing else and been gone for years now.

I don't think I could ever just walk away from my son, how can these women leave much loved children even tho adults and even grandchildren and g.grandchildren.

Hi Liz
I watch that sometimes its awful for the famlies left behind
Something must go wrong in their lives to make them do it
I dont think I could do it either

What a wonderful programme...I cried my eyes out...

Think Nicky Campbell is a really good choice of presenter as he was adopted himself....his WDYTYA is one of my favourites.

Can`t wait for next weeks episode...
