Bob,when I watched the original footage there was no soundtrack and it didn't need any, the pictures told the story. I fail to understand how anyone would want to employ someone who behaved like this towards animals. |

it appears (according to the circus's site) that the soundtrack was enhanced to make the blows more dramatic............. |

I see on the news that Bobby and Moira Roberts are being prosecuted by the CPS who have taken the case over from Animal Defenders International. They are charged with causing unnecessary suffering to this beautiful animal and with failing to take reasonable steps to prevent an employee from causing her suffering. She was allegedly chained to the ground at all times as well as being kicked and beaten. While they didn't administer the beatings I am glad that somebody is being prosecuted and held accountable for this sickening treatment of Annie. |

The Roberts family sound as if they genuinely cared for her and I'm sure it was a shock to them. She will be much happier now though and I hope the moron who hurt her is caught and punished. |

Its Roberts circus, they had the elephant from birth and she was one of the family. They employed a so called specialist elephant keeper who turned out to be a right muppet. The Roberts family are assisting the police and RSPCA in finding him, in fact theyre insistant that he is found and have handed the elephant over as they were advised to do. The Roberts are a lovely family, its been a shock to them. |

Years ago when l was 14yrs old l ran away from home, mainly because l wanted to follow the circus (BS). The elephants were hit with sticks that had NAILS in the end. The leader a massive female had arthritus in her trunk and could hardly move it......l can still see the trainers, the stick and the elephant. l saw this because l was very interested in the animals, and asked if l could help with grooming etc....to be so close to them was amazing. l wish l had called the rspca, but l was only 14 and my mum was more worried about the fact that l had run away. l was'nt very popular at the time!! |

I hope she settles in ok, she may miss her owners, who did seem to really love her as part of the family almost. It would be sad if the move unsettles her and causes her more distress. The circus people will be more careful who they employ in future, methinks. |
