Years ago when l was 14yrs old l ran away from home, mainly because l wanted to follow the circus (BS). The elephants were hit with sticks that had NAILS in the end. The leader a massive female had arthritus in her trunk and could hardly move it......l can still see the trainers, the stick and the elephant. l saw this because l was very interested in the animals, and asked if l could help with grooming etc....to be so close to them was amazing. l wish l had called the rspca, but l was only 14 and my mum was more worried about the fact that l had run away. l was'nt very popular at the time!!

Liz...lets hope no other animal is used in a circus and trainers will not be needed!!

What i'd do to him is put a pitchfork in him .....

only i wouldn't stop at just one dig , he'd probably need hospital treatment
by the time i had finished with him ..thats if he made it to a hospital .
I'm glad that Annie is safe .

Its Roberts circus, they had the elephant from birth and she was one of the family. They employed a so called specialist elephant keeper who turned out to be a right muppet. The Roberts family are assisting the police and RSPCA in finding him, in fact theyre insistant that he is found and have handed the elephant over as they were advised to do. The Roberts are a lovely family, its been a shock to them.

According to papers Anne was about 5 years old when the Roberts family bought her for about £3000. Anne has better living condtions where she is now.

Cath2010 Report 11 Apr 2011 07:09

The Roberts family sound as if they genuinely cared for her and I'm sure it was a shock to them. She will be much happier now though and I hope the moron who hurt her is caught and punished.

I see on the news that Bobby and Moira Roberts are being prosecuted by the CPS who have taken the case over from Animal Defenders International. They are charged with causing unnecessary suffering to this beautiful animal and with failing to take reasonable steps to prevent an employee from causing her suffering. She was allegedly chained to the ground at all times as well as being kicked and beaten. While they didn't administer the beatings I am glad that somebody is being prosecuted and held accountable for this sickening treatment of Annie.

it appears (according to the circus's site) that the soundtrack was enhanced to make the blows more dramatic.............

Bob.

on the other hand, if you employed a builder to make alterations to your house, and due to the builders incompetence it collapsed, and someone was hurt...........would you feel justified in yourself being prosecuted, for employing a cowboy?

Cath2010

Cath2010 Report 11 Nov 2011 07:10

Bob,when I watched the original footage there was no soundtrack and it didn't need any, the pictures told the story. I fail to understand how anyone would want to employ someone who behaved like this towards animals.

I would never employ a "cowboy" to work on my house, but if I did and the house falls down then yes I would get what I deserve.
