Dear All

Hello

The lyrics to "Little things mean a lot":

Blow me a kiss from across the room
Say I look nice when I'm not
Touch my hair as you pass my chair
Little things mean a lot

Give me your arm as we cross the street
Call me at six on the dot
A line a day when you're far away
Little things mean a lot

Don't have to buy me diamonds or pearls
Champagne, sables, and such
I never cared much for diamonds and pearls
'cause honestly, honey, they just cost money

Give me a hand when I've lost the way
Give me your shoulder to cry on
Whether the day is bright or gray
Give me your heart to rely on

Send me the warmth of a secret smile
To show me you haven't forgot
For now and forever, that's always and ever
Honey, little things mean a lot

Best wishes
xx

Another one who appreciated being reminded, a nice gentle romantic song from when I was fourteen. And aren't the sentiments lovely too.

Hope you are soon better Joy. Lovely song with lovely words in a world more innocent than today.

Good posting Elizabeth.

Thanks for that Joy, used to Love Monty Sunshine when he played with chris Barber, we saw them a couple of times in Portsmouth in the 50s. One of my favourites is The Old Rugged Cross played by Sunshine. I had not realised that he had died. The end of an era, Chris Barber was never the same after they split.

I think those are lovely words to send to a friend in an email. Yes just touching someones shoulder or a nice smile means a lot to those who are lonely.

Just wondered what prompted you to put it on here.

It is a lovely song and the words are worth listening to AND I was able to answer who recorded it in a quiz recently!

Kitty's "Li ttle Things Mean A Lot" was the first record I bought after I started work. It was a 78 rpm vinyl, (youngsters don't ask).
I almost wore it out.

Happy days.

Now you are talking about a great singer - Jo Stafford.

Fly the ocean in a silver plane, see the jungle when its wet with rain, just remember 'til I'm home again........................

I had a year in the trenches in Korea, cut off from civilisation, The "Devonshire" was docked at Pusan and the loudspeaker was blaring out "see the pyramids along the nile". A never to be forgotten memory.

Happy days
