I am SO glad you said this! Was hoping to enjoy watching some footie but am afraid this is one person who will henceforth not be watching if the buzz continues. FIFA take note, please!
Not the same with the tv on mute!

the game this afternoon had the same noise. I hid in the living room for a while before I realised, as I thought there was a bumble bee in the hallway!

Am now reduced to watching "America's got Talent " to avoid the buzzzzzzz. How many viewers are they going to lose if it continues? And who sold those darned trumpets to the crowds, anyway?

jan50

jan50 Report 11 Jun 2010 21:17

Will still watch England playing tomorrow! Tv sound off and radio on (hopefully no buzzzzzz on the radio!).

Apparently, they are a traditional part of South African sporting fans!

jan50 Report 11 Jun 2010 21:49

Ooh, I didn't know that! Now, if it had been drums.... Yeh! However, it seems I'm not the only one to be distracted by the buzzing sound they make.

StrayKitten

StrayKitten Report 11 Jun 2010 21:50

Silly Sausage

Silly Sausage Report 11 Jun 2010 21:54

jan50 Report 11 Jun 2010 21:54

Don't suppose there's anything that can be done. But, as said, I'm sure they'll lose a lot of viewers because of this.

Apparently the security guards have been issued with ear plugs. Must be murder if you suffer from Tinnitus.

Some 'plank' in the high street was blowing one at passers by about a week ago - they're really loud up close!!

Muffyxx

Muffyxx Report 12 Jun 2010 09:17

They were selling them in Lidls (sp) last week...loads of people (me included tee hee) picking them up and blowing through them making everyone jump xx

Sooooo glad I'm going out to the middle of nowhere to watch some carthorses.

Muffy - how anti-socal of you!!!!
Okay, it's probably fun - let's hope the novelty wears off

I, too cannot stand the discordant noise of those awful things. They are not traditional for all of us!! There is a fan park right opposite a Private Hospital and I feel very sorry for the patients who have no escape from the noise. This is really inconsiderate.

I have to agree, the bloody noise is starting tlo grate on me,
how the hell are we supposed to hear our supporters singing along
to na,na,na or the theme from the great escape,, if they only blow those
bloody things during set pieces, such as free kicks and corners or penalties, then fair enough, its a shame as the 2010 world cup
will forever be remembered for the bloody annoying Drone lets hope
this noise dont attract swarms of killer bees !

Come On England.
