I too agree with Mick, and luckily cause of time diffs the games play at like 1am here so I won't miss a thing. One of the free to air channels is busy advertising that they are going to be bringing full Wimbledon coverage (delayed) to our screens, groan (lol).

I most definitely will not disappear when the football, and then the tennis appears on our screens. Even the OH, a life long football fan and player himself, is not unduly bothered about it. In fact when Saturday night's match is on, he has booked for us to go out for a meal.
He will probably tune in at the semi final stage and then the final, but otherwise, not really. However, having said all of that, the alternatives on other channels are appalling, according to next week's issues of the Radio Times. And that is just the beginning of it all.

Can't be doing with football, fortunately OH isn't bothered either.

Saw last night that one of the ITV freeview channels is doing a season of lady detectives, so that may keep me busy.

Plus we'll be on holiday for part of it.

Will I be pleased when the soccer comes to an end! We have nothing else on radio and TV, and normal programmes will not be aired because of the soccer. Everywhere you look there is soccer paraphenalia, and don't talk about those noisy instruments called vuvuzelas, they make the most discordant noise . In my opinion it is all a big waste of money which could have been put to better use. I could go on but that's enough!!!!

Dear All

Hello

Hope you are all okay.

Er well, yes sort of!

I will try to plan around the matches.

Some person has to be the voice of calm and reason in our house!

The flags are being put up tomorrow.

The wall chart is prepared and a few extra food goodies will be bought.

As it only comes around every 4 years, I say enjoy if you can!

But the TV channels could offer some decent programmes as an alternative. They used to during previous world cups.

Take care all
Very best wishes
xx

Squirrel, I think it's on from June 11 for about a month!
I only know as the council I work for has a special 'management' policy for dealing with the potential requests for time off!
I'm furious as it's more leniant that the 'policy' created during the snow!!!

I expect there will be quite a few managers 'working' from home for the next month.

I heard someone today say that it will finish (for England) on Friday ... take it that's their first match then?

Hopefully OH will spend many a happy hour snoozing during the important games and huffing and puffing during the unimportant ones.

And as for the tennis! Don't get me started! All that grunting - and that's just from the women players. Yeuk!

Will I disappear when the World Cup Starts?

The weekend before last my mum mentioned about having to put up with the football being on all over summer. It took me several minutes to remember that the world cup is on this year.

Does that answer your question? ;-)

you really should bump up that thread....football explained through the use of condiments - classic ;)

I'm not sure whether BC's motives for watching the World Cup are purely sporting or pure ;)
