Julia Report 2 Jun 2010 14:05

The named gunman is aged 52yrs, and is said to have killed three people, according to the news on our radio at 2.00.
Meanwhile, the police have been called to an 'incident' here in Derbyshire, and even the Air Ambulance is on standby.
Same as Stray said, you would think it was America.

SheilaSomerset

SheilaSomerset Report 2 Jun 2010 14:34

Stray - it has happened in the UK before - Hungerford in the 1980's and, of course, Dunblane. Dreadful for all concerned.

Bobtanian

Bobtanian Report 2 Jun 2010 14:36

But I thought that after Dunblane, when they confiscated all the handguns from the legal users......the politicians expected all this gun crime would stop?

or am I being cynical?

bob

ooops silly me !!

its only criminals that have guns now isnt it?

I have just had the misfortune of listening to that witch Kay Burley on Sky News trying to get eye witnesses to describe all the gory details plus any other little bit of info she could drag out of them.

Bloody despicable journalism in my view.

A friend faced a gun wielding bank robber in Norwich and she received counselling for 6 months and that gun wasn't discharged. How the hell do these people feel?

Tragic utterly tragic.

thank goodness the news ************GOT IT WRONG************<<<<<<<< in its broadcasting all morning,,,,,and the mum is unharmed and very much alive !!!, poor poor woman,(
sad as it is Sue,thats media covereage, some people will crave every little bit of details they can, regardless that its not going to have any impact on their lives at all,,,,,!

ps someone I knew also faced an undischarged gun and still in recovery after 10 years ,she cant go out,!!

Jane Report 2 Jun 2010 17:38

There will hundreds of traumatised people tonight. The GP I heard talking sounded dreadful. He had witnessed two bodies on the pavement. He knew the lady I think ,but from what I an gather the other person he could not identify because of the injuries.
It's best we just all wait until we hear the correct details I think. It is a tragedy and I just feel so sorry for everyone concerned.

AnnCardiff

AnnCardiff Report 2 Jun 2010 17:57

heartbreaking news - 12 killed and 25 injured - three critically - he just killed people randomly and one has to wonder what on earth was going on in his mind to do such a dreadful thing - how will these small villages ever recover from such a tragedy? my heart goes out to all concerned and in particular the children of the killer and his mother

Mauatthecoast

Mauatthecoast Report 2 Jun 2010 18:00

Latest news is 12 dead and 25 injured!

Like McB I thought about Cumbrian Caz and hope she and her family are okay.

Not just in America Stray.....in 1989 on a quiet Sunday a gunman (later confirmed as a schizoprehnic) rampaged in Monkseaton,Whitley Bay. He killed one person and injured 14 others, using his father's shotgun.

Tawny

Tawny Report 2 Jun 2010 18:02

Latest body count is now 12 people confirmed dead he has shot himself. I remember Dunblane I was about eleven at the time and hoped I would not see another gun massacre in the uk after hand guns were confiscated.
