Hi Uzzie

Just on the last chapters of Kate Adie's book Nobody's Child.

It covers the history of foundling children and questions of identity

Have to say of course it's sad but there are some fascinating tales from years gone by.

Mersey I knew I knew the name we have or have had - The women who lived for danger and I think Chateaux of the Loire. We do every so often trade or sell our books.

I am reading Hanged at Birmingham by Steve Fielding.

He has also written Hanged at ... Durham; Pentonville; Liverpool; Manchester; and Leeds.
A series of factual books, telling us a little about the crimes. A real Social History document. We also get to learn a little about the Hangman involved in the executions.

I have just got three books from my local charity shop (three for a pound).
Losing You by Nicci French

Rocco by Adriana Trigiani

The Pillars of the Earth by Ken Follett

Rambling

Rambling Report 30 May 2010 13:55

I have almost finished "Just me" by actress Sheila Hancock, interesting in part because of her appearance on WDYTYA which is mentioned, but mostly because she is a strong woman who has faced losing the one she loved and in this book talks very honestly about trying to 'move on', being older and 'alone'. It's not at all self pitying, just self-aware, and tempers her sadness, with a great deal of humour and empathy with others.

Rare for me to read a book in two nights these days, but it bowled along so well i couldn't put it down :))
