Hi Joy, well done. However, I would look into it a bit further just in case. Also as someone has suggested, I would check your credit report. I think you can do this free of charge if you look into it. Even if they give up, which the original company may not do, they may still leave a blot on your credit.

i phoned the number that ice gave me ,they gave me another number which was no good .so i phoned up the debt recovery.you,d a been proud of me .i feel well chuffed with meself.lol
this is almost the convo.
i told the story briefly....and explained if i owe 15.76 they are most welcome to it.but i want the ORIGINAL proof so i know im not being screwed over.
well mrs sharman we can find that for you but it will cost 20 quid for us to do it....................whoahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh hang on lady.i aint paying no admin fee.you should already have the details there .now lets try again ....i will pay the 15.76 happily.........i will not be paying your admin fee.you have stated you,ll be visiting me ..well ya cant cos ive not invited ya .and unless i invite ya you cant come near me.

well the weird thing here is i dont ever remember getting a bill from phone company.thats why i think theres something dodgy.

It happens here in Oz too. I had a blood test years ago. I paid the bill and 3 years later a debt collector came to the door saying there would be legal action if the bill wasn't paid. I'm fairly organised with receipts and I was able to find it. Thank goodness I keep them for years. The collector told me that he had spoken to loads of people who had receipts for so called unpaid bills from the same company.

Joyous.......dont dare pay it till youve know whats what,,,,,CAB,,,,,,,but let the company know your intensions aswell,,,copy copy and copy,,,,,,,,while you are heading for a legal battle they will back off,,,and the old ombusdman can make them pay in your favour for any loss of credit rating,and stress related threats from this outfit.......!!!

It's the principle not the money we know that and anyway why should you pay for nothing. Try not to worry.

Just speak to C.A.B. They will give impartial advice.

well my credit rating is 100% so i dont want to ruin that.this is why i think maybe i should just pay the poxy 15 quid.but then i think what if it was 15 thousand .its more about the injustice of this.and how they can do this and get away with it.scarey ......oh gawd im thinking twice again.lol

Mobile phone companies are a nightmare for doing things like this.

A week before we moved up here about 5 yrs ago I got a new mobile on 28 day approval...but although the reception in my old place was spot on...it was non existant here ...so I cancelled the contract and handed the phone back.

3 yrs later I was turned down for credit...when I paid the money to find out what it was for it was for £90...for the phone I had on approval which I CANCELLED...dodgy wotsits.Not once had I received any invoice suggesting that they felt they were owed money...and my post was redirected for 6 mths after I moved.

I threatened them with OFCOM or whatever it was...the communication ombudsman and oddly enough they kindly wiped the debt. PAH..nw I'd never use that company again but I'd also make sure that I have absolutely everything in writing should i ever wish to cancel a contract again. x

I would contact citizens advice bureau for advice on this because it can have a serious effect on your credit rating. They would be able to advise the best course of action and the more information you can get on how best to proceed the better chance you have of winning.

also isn;t this law still in place , you can ask them to produce the original contract not a copy signed that was another that stopped them.

well im gonna be brave and take um on.like i said if i owe its not a prob they can have it [all in one pence peices.lolol]
