Morning Everyone

4 years Mel and we are still going strong :-D :-D :-D :-D.Good innit !

Well It must have been the quickest dog walk on record just now.Just long enough for him to do a poo.It was raining and blowing so hard,I decided he needed to wear his coat.(not impressed) :-. We just went a few yards down the lane and it is almost flooded,Chester stepped right into a deep pothole and looked liked Doctor Foster ,right up to his middle :-D :-D

Kim,it was Mel that thought the Squirrel could be pregnant. It did definitely look a lot slimmer yesterday.I think it must live somewhere down the bottom of our garden or even next door. There are lots of trees for it to choose from.
I think I saw that baby squirrels are called Kittens!

I need to change my jeans as all the bottoms got soaked and feel cold and uncomfortable on my ankles :-S :-S

Frank Report 25 Apr 2012 10:01

Morning from a very wet Northampton. Strong Easterly winds, with the rain.

Last night when we left the pub, it was a warm, bright moon, and stars. and look perfect for a nice day today. How wrong can you be.

I bet Jane got wet this morning walking the dog.!!!!

Had another call yesterday "IS THAT MR FRANK" No i said I will go and get him. five minutes later. she was still on the phone, when I put down the receiver :-) :-) :-) :-) I get feed up with loosing my RAG with them.

Mel, what a strrange dream, Have you got little figures, that you into a dolls house.???

Yesterday morning, I said to Ros "I will unlock the front door because there will be a delivery" within two minutes the bell rang and a big box was delivered for ROS.

Hope all who are out and about stay DRY.

Thanks Pat, she lives next door to the cemetery. It is quite beautiful and surrounded by the mountains. Haven't been able to see the grave in 12 years. She is a sweetheart to put flowers there for me.

Morning to Mel as well. Happy anniversary for 4 years. You began something really nice back then. :-)

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 25 Apr 2012 10:07

Thanks Pat.

Kim forgot to say I am pleased your tests went well yesterday. good news there then. :-)

Jane you should send that photo of the earless squirrel to Springwatch they may tell you what happened to her ears.

Our lawns are awash today. We have puddles where we have never had them before. I shall be getting webbed feet at this rate.

Ann yes Phil Davis was in Larkrise. He played Ruby and Pearls father. He is an actor that I like but usually I can't remember his name. It was only that oh was talking about him the other day that I remembered.

I used to get told that if I ate the raw sausage meat that I would get worms. I did'nt eat them cooked when I was young but liked a bit that squeezed out the end when mum pricked them with a fork.

Had my lovely tidy female pheasent in the garden this morning and she came up on the patio by the back door when I was feeding the robin's with their mealworms. She had some too :-)

The sky has just lightened so perhaps it has stopped raining.

Bettter have some breky and get on.

Frank they ring and ask for MEEEESSSSUUUUSSSSS SHEEEEEEEPARD and I tell them she passed away. The phone goes dead immediately. Always getting the one about the virus in the computer and I say how can that be when I don't own one. Rotten parasites they are :-| :-| :-|

Morning Jane, awful weather over your way. Poor Chester, must have been a mad dash back to the house.

Evening Kim, Morning everyone,

Happy Birthday to the thread , i wonder how long we can keep it going !!

What a day the rain is quite heavy and the wind seems to have got up this last hour .

Hope the dramas are nothing serious Kim :-S

What a strange dream Mel, i didn't dream last night had a really good nights sleep ,went through until about four then turned my pillow to the cool side which i do every time i wake up and woke just after six when the alarm went off.

Frank, you been treating Ros to some thing nice again? all these parcels you must know your delivery man very well by now :-D :-D

Better get on , i started to dust the bedrooms ,opened the window to shake the duster and the blooming thing got blown out of my hand !! its in the garden and that's where it can stay til the rain stops ,got plenty more to use.

Ann, love the rings , really pretty , your teacher comes up with some lovely ideas for things to make .

Annx Report 25 Apr 2012 11:48

Morning All,

OH is at a meeting so chance for me to get on here earlier today. As Frank says, what a change in the weather today, no gardening today! The wind slammed the bedroom window shut this morning and that hasn't ever happened before and the rain has only just slowed down.

I was still awake at 3.00am this morning. I could hear a strange humming noise that kept stopping and for ages thought it must be the sound of traffic on the main road through the open window as lorries slowing for the island make similar noises. After a while, with it being so 'regular' I decided it must be something else so got up to investigate. It turned out to be the washing machine stuck on it's cycle!! It had been on for about 6 hours!!!! I switched it off at the mains and went back to bed. This morning I put it back on again and it seems to be continuing with rinse and spin now. When I looked through the door on the front everything that should be light looks distinctly grey, in fact everything looks very grey!!! :-S I hope my favourite jeans haven't turned into a size 6 !! :-S :-S

What a strange dream Mel......it's funny what our minds do when we are asleep. OH had a dream last night and at the end in the dream he had a migraine. He woke up and really did have a migraine that had nearly gone.....strange!

We have a mousehole under the edge of the slabs in the greenhouse. Every summer I block it up and every spring it has reappeared. They must be a real nuisance in your tunnel though, Mel. I have never been able to grow peas in the open ground because of them, always have to start them growing first and then plant them. In the past I tried dipping them in parafin, putting mothballs in the soil, nothing worked.

Kim, the cooler weather suits me better too. Sorry to hear there are more dramas and I hope you can resolve them. It seems to be a stressful time for you lately.

Pat, many years ago I had a friend with a golden retriever. Whenever he came in after a walk, he would get 'his' towel near the back door and bring it for his feet to be wiped. I also remember though, that when her OH forgot the door key once and climbed through an upstairs window that was open, the dog was having none of it and barked like mad when he tried to put his leg through and took some convincing he wasn't an intruder.

It would be lovely if the squirrel had kits Jane and brought them for you to see.......keep your camera handy! :-)

Frank, Kim I agree what parasites and nuisances they are! The times I have had to stop, dry my hands and rush to the phone!! It shocked OH when he retired just how many of these calls we get. If you just say the word 'scam' down the phone it gets rid of them fast too, or I just leave the phone off the hook. I've gone past being polite anymore. Basically they are just thieves. I can't work out if it is different people each time as it wouldn't make sense to keep ringing if they got short shrift the first time.

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 25 Apr 2012 15:13

Been raining here on and off all day so far.

Oh has the side on the garage and nearly the back too but he ordered 40 planks of T&G and they only had 34! He is cross cos he can't finish all the little funny shaped bits. Still it will keep most of the rain out now.

I was looking in my bottom kitchen cupboard for something just before lunch time. Decided to get the whole lot out!!!!!!!!! :-S :-S :-S when oh came in to see if lunch was ready. I was on the floor surrounded by tins and packets. Most of which are going in the bin. Some of them were 2007 !!!!!!!!!!! shock horrror :-S :-S :-S

Two great big tins of salmon that mum always liked in the cupboard incase anyone came and she had to give them lunch. 5 tins of manderin oranges which mum liked in orange or lime jelly. A packet of walnuts best before 2009. that went in the bird ford bin with the flaked almonds I found in the draw a few weeks ago and a pack of mixed fruit which the blackbirds love. Tins of butter beans and mixed beans which I will cook up for the chickens as they love them and old tins of fruit cocktail. Not a lot gets wasted in this house. I shall give my friend Gerry the tins of salmon for her dog that dos'nt eat enough to keep a fly alive and is still full of energy.

Yes Jane squirrels young are kittens.

Yes, Happy Birthday Thread - and thank's to Mel for creating it in the first place. I see it's up to No 997 when I clocked in, so when it gets to 1000, I guess that's 2000 entries on this leg alone. Must be some kind of record.
But then again, maths was never one of my strong points.

What a morning! When I was coming round it was howling a gale and lashing rain on our front dormer. I closed the windows off night vent and all I could hear was emergency vehicles going past on the main road. We live just a couple of miles from Jun. 3 of the M6 so I guess there was trouble up there. Corley services is always on the road reports.

Next thing when I went to pull the curtains back I noticed water on the edge of the carpet under the window. It was running down under the sill, through the wallpaper and puddling onto the carpet. Only the one place and a quick peep out of the window made me guess the rain was being blown back under the flashing and coming in that way. I made a temporary solution by taping a plastic bag to the skirting board, putting down towels and making a 'buffer' behind the radiator to ease the flow. Luckily, the rain has stopped, the wind has bated and the sun is shining. It's almost dried out now, but it was a bit of a panic at the time.

Other than that it's been a peaceful day here!!!!

Well the rain has eased up a little , still quite windy though.

Mel, you have had a good sort out , i did my cupboards the other week ,i had a tin of those mixed beans ,was going to put them out for the birds ,but when i opened them they stank!!!!! phew ,they went in the bin !!

William , good job you noticed the water coming in , has it marked the wallpaper ?

I have quite a rick in my neck, i've been on here most of the afternoon adding to the family tree , had to ask for help in the end ,i was looking for Constance Cuddon , in the 1901 census , one of those who i don't think i'll ever find !!!

What weather. Absolutely hammered it down and I was out in it. Had a pair of boots on and didn't realise until it was too late that they leak. Never mind, it was worth the trek into Harrow. Had given up on the idea of a bolero or shrug to go with my dress for the wedding and found a really nice jacket in H & M (a shop I normally walk past) so one step further with my outfit, all I need now are shoes, bag and hat.

Ann have you tried stuffing that hole with wire wool, a tip my son gave me, it seems to work at keeping the mice out. Your finger bling is fantastic, clever girl.

When I was little my mum always said if I swallowed the apple pips I would have a tree growing inside me ...... :-0 I believed it for ages.
